Summary/Objective:

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are seeking a ‘Bunker’ the mascot to engage and entertain fans at Segra Stadium. An ideal candidate should be energetic, outgoing and have a background in the performing arts industry. This position will work all Woodpecker home games, along with other non-gametime special events throughout the community during the year.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Engage, interact and connect with fans in the ballpark and community.
  • Follow the run of show provided by the Ballpark Entertainment Coordinator to ensure that Bunker is in the right location for all in-game elements.
  • Act as Bunker’s handler when not performing.
  • Perform at community sponsored events as needed.
  • Represent the Woodpeckers in a professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • Outgoing enthusiasm and high energy.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Background in the performing arts or dance is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills using body gestures to interact with fans.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environments.
  • Must be reliable and committed to meeting the work schedule and mascot requirements.
  • Have a strong attention to detail.
  • Prior entertainment experience as a performer. 

 

Work Environment

Majority of time will be spent outdoors. Job may require employee to function in a in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue/environment. Employee may also be exposed to weather of varying degrees for extended periods of time while performing the duties of this job.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.

  • Must be able to meet current mascot costume dimension requirements.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks: bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb up/down flights of stairs, walk on uneven ground.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to on a regular and continuing basis.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time, seasonal position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends during baseball season. Must be available to arrive up to one (1) hour prior to game time.

 

Travel

Travel may be expected in this role.
