Supervisor: Manager, Field Operations 

Classification: Part Time/Non-Exempt (Seasonal) 

 

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are seeking a Grounds Associate or Intern.  This positions will perform various responsibilities within the field operations department at Segra Stadium. This includes daily and ongoing field maintenance, basic irrigation system maintenance, basic equipment, and shop maintenance.  This position will be located in Fayetteville, NC.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform daily and seasonal maintenance of all skinned areas.
  • Assist in daily set-up and break-down of all batting practice field equipment including protection screens, and batting cages. 
  • Perform daily maintenance of all turfgrass areas
  • Operate various grounds maintenance equipment, including, but not limited to push and riding mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and implements, edgers, and backpack blowers. 
  • Assist with installation and removal of all field tarps. 
  • Perform basic trash pick-up and cleaning of all field and shop areas.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to work extended or unpredictable hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • A positive attitude, self-confidence, professionalism, and accountability. 

Preferred Requirements 

  • Current enrollment or recent graduate from a turfgrass science program or related field from an accredited 2 or 4-year collegiate institution.
  • Previous experience working in Major League or Minor baseball with similar responsibilities. 
  • Previous experience maintaining Bermudagrass in a high-end, sand-based athletic field setting. 

 


Work Environment

Job may require employee to function in a in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue/environment. Employee may also be exposed to weather of varying degrees for extended periods of time while performing the duties of this job.

 


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Must be able to stand for up to four (4) hours at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to write, read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time and seasonal position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights, and weekends during baseball season. Must be available to arrive up to one (1) hour prior to game time.

 

 

Travel

Travel is not expected in this role.
