Led by Chuck Greenberg, one of the sports industry's most well-respected owners and operators, Greenberg Sports Group manages the operations of three highly successful and award-winning franchises within Major League Baseball’s player development system. Those franchises are the Frisco (Tx.) RoughRiders (Double-A Central – Texas Rangers), Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Pelicans (Low-A East – Chicago Cubs) and State College (Pa.) Spikes (MLB Draft League).

Greenberg is the former Managing Partner & CEO of the Texas Rangers, a role he assumed in 2010 after his group of investors (Rangers Baseball Express, LLC), which included Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, acquired the Major League Baseball franchise from Tom Hicks and Hicks Sports Group.

Chuck's prior accomplishments are highlighted by serving as Chairman and Managing Partner of the Double-A Eastern League's Altoona (Pa.) Curve from 2002 to 2008 and representing Mario Lemieux and renowned businessman Ron Burkle in landing ownership of the bankrupt Pittsburgh Penguins in 1999. He again represented the Penguins in 2007 on successful negotiations to build the state-of-the-art Consol Energy Center in downtown Pittsburgh and secure the franchise's future in the city for at least another 30 years.

Position Description
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring a seasonal position to assist in the marketing department in both print/digital and grassroots efforts. In addition, this position will support the team's sales department with sponsorship activations.  This position will assist in the execution of sponsorship elements and coordinate across all departments including but not limited to tickets, promotions, social media, and production.
 
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Associate General Manager with print and advertising needs, including stadium graphics and flyers, sales collateral, website imagery, and more
  • Assist with additional marketing elements as necessary such as email marketing, writing ad copy, ad design, press releases, and more
  • Project Coordinator for the design and execution of the game day program
  • Assist in management of website content (no prior web design skills required)
  • Assist the Sales Execution Coordinator with inventory tracking, collection of sponsorship materials, and activation of sponsorship elements across all mediums including but not limited to print, outdoor, social media activations, and more
  • Assist the Director of Fan Engagement in executing promotional and theme nights
  • Assist with the planning and execution of non-traditional revenue and non-game day events as necessary
  • Help organize and plan special events at the ballpark, such as luncheons, suite parties, and little league clinics
  • Coordinate and activate community relations programs and events as needed
  • Be a positive brand ambassador and represent the Pelicans and our partners in a professional manner at all times.
  • Be available to field front desk phone calls & answer inbound fan messages on various social media channels.
  • Perform as mascots if necessary
 
By the end of the season you will:
  • Understand, in-depth, the various interworking of departments that comprise a front office of a sports team.
  • Have gained materials to add to your professional portfolio.
  • Have gained valuable networking opportunities.
  • Receive potential job placement assistance based on performance.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates are preferably college graduates who are looking to gain more experience within sports marketing. Other applicants will not be excluded 
  • A strong interest in the sports industry 
  • Have a working knowledge of Adobe Master Collection, including but not limited to Photoshop and Illustrator. 
  • A wide range of majors are encouraged to apply, but most of our applicants are a part of marketing, business, recreation/ tourism and sport management majors.
  • Candidates should be able to perform physically demanding aspects of the job 
  • Candidates must be willing to dedicate 40-100 hours per week to their internship, including a majority of home games and ballpark events. 
  • Candidates must be able to start in mid-January on a full time basis. 

Duration/Compensation
  • This is a seasonal position that will conclude in September.  Target start date mid-January.
  • Monthly Stipend
