The Windy City ThunderBolts are accepting applications for broadcasting and media relations internships for the 2026 baseball season. The internships will be focused on game broadcasting, audio/visual features production and media writing.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing color commentary for radio/TV broadcasts on up to 48 home games and select road games
- Occasional play-by-play
- Conducting pre and post game interviews
- Providing in-game reports from the field for radio/TV broadcasts
- Creating audio and video content for use on social media and stadium video board
- Writing game recaps, press releases, player bios and daily game notes
- Co-hosting a weekly podcast throughout the season
- Being an active participant in daily production meetings
- Other duties as assigned around the ballpark
All candidates must have previous experience in play-by-play and/or news and features writing!
Please express in your cover letter what element of broadcasting or media you are most interested in. Although each intern will have a slightly different primary focus, everyone should be prepared to contribute to all elements of the broadcast and media relations department.
These internships are unpaid and no housing is provided; local candidates are preferred.
Prior experience is required but this is primarily meant to be an educational internship and all applicants should first and foremost come in with the expectation of learning on the job and improving their craft throughout the summer.
The above description is a general overview of the position. Numerous other tasks and roles are performed. Season runs from May-September. Ideal candidate can work all or most of the season.
