The Washington Wild Things are currently accepting applications for athletic training interns for the 2026 season. We are pursuing students in the athletic training or physical therapy field with proper experience and certification who are interested in working in the professional baseball setting. The opportunity will start in April 2026 and end in September or when the successful candidate(s) return to school and will involve every aspect of working with professional athletes. Responsibilities working with partnered hospital staff, spring training, daily practice coverage, game coverage and post game coverage.

Qualifications
  • Pursuing or have a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
  • Experience working with a sports team required (can be at collegiate level as a student)
  • Certified Health Care Provider (CPR/AED) required
  • May be subject to PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background check

Responsibilities:
  • Job Purpose: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer and collaborate with medical staff of partnered hospital and offices to ensure proper health and safety of the players
  • This is a season-long position with duties assigned in Spring Training and in season
  • Maintenance and operation of an organized and functional professional athletic training room
  • Planning and executing the daily evaluations, treatments of injuries/illnesses
  • Provide medical coverage of games and practices as schedule dictates
  • Ensure proper field set-up and preparation to ensure a safe playing environment for the health and wellness of the players and staff
  • Communicate effectively to relay pertinent information in a timely manner to the team doctor, field staff and baseball operations staff
  • Duties as assigned by Baseball Ops, field staffs
  • Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
