Role Overview
As a Group Sales Associate for the Sussex County Miners, you will be key in driving ticket/package sales for group outings — including corporate events, school groups, camps, birthday parties, and other group experiences at Skylands Stadium. You will work with the sales and ticketing team to build relationships with potential group clients, manage sales processes, and support group-oriented events to maximize attendance and revenue while delivering excellent fan experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect & Sell Group Tickets / Packages
- Proactively reach out to potential clients — businesses, schools, camps, community organizations, etc. — to promote group outing packages.
- Conduct cold calls, emails, and networking to generate new leads.
- Customize ticket and hospitality packages (e.g., group seating, suite rentals, food/beverage or concessions add-ons, special game-day experiences) based on client needs.
- Client & Account Management
- Maintain relationships with past clients to encourage repeat group bookings.
- Provide excellent customer service — answering questions, addressing concerns, ensuring a positive experience pre- and post-booking.
- Handle order processing, confirmations, ticket fulfillment, and coordination of group details (number of attendees, seating arrangements, special requests, etc.).
- Collaboration with Box Office & Operations
- Work with the ticketing/box office team to manage group orders and integrate them into game-day operations (will-call, check-in, seating layout, etc.).
- On game days or events: assist with set-up of group areas, coordinate group check-in or special group perks (e.g., group recognition over PA/video board, mascot visits, etc.) — consistent with what the Miners list under their “Group Tickets” offerings.
- Sales & Revenue Reporting, Data Management
- Track leads, sales activity, attendance and revenue data; maintain accurate records of group sales and interactions.
- Analyze and report on trends, group sales performance, and identify opportunities for growth (e.g., target markets, corporate outreach, school/organization partnerships). (This aligns with typical responsibilities for group-sales roles in minor-league baseball.)
- Support Marketing & Promotional Initiatives
- Collaborate with marketing and promotions staff to design and promote group-themed nights or special group experiences (e.g., school nights, company outings, camp days).
- Help coordinate and execute group-oriented events and non-game events when the stadium is used for other purposes (rentals, parties, special events). This supports the Miners’ broader community and event offerings.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — ability to build relationships with clients, clearly explain ticket packages, and provide responsive customer service.
- Sales mindset: comfortable with outreach (calls/emails), negotiating packages, closing deals, and meeting sales goals.
- Organization, time-management, and multi-tasking — able to handle multiple leads, group orders, and coordinate game-day logistics.
- Flexibility — willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (most games and events happen outside standard business hours).
- Comfort working in a dynamic, event-driven environment (sports, entertainment, community events), with an ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Bonus / Preferred: prior experience in ticket sales, customer service, hospitality or event management; knowledge of CRM or ticketing software; interest in sports / baseball.
