Position Summary
The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations, event execution, and facility maintenance of ForeFront Field, a premier multi-use sports and entertainment venue. This position assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of 200+ annual events, including Lake Erie Crushers professional baseball, Lorain County Leviathan FC professional soccer, MMA and boxing events, concerts and music festivals, tribute bands, youth sports tournaments, collegiate championships (MAC), and OHSAA postseason tournaments.
This role requires strong organization, hands-on facility experience, a team-first mindset, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with frequent nights, weekends, and holiday schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Game Day Support
- Assist in the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of all events held at ForeFront Field.
- Support stadium conversions and changeovers between baseball, soccer, concerts, combat sports, and special events.
- Coordinate event timelines and ensure facility readiness prior to doors opening.
- Assist with field preparation and event-specific layout adjustments including staging, flooring, fencing, and barricades.
- Work closely with event promoters, production crews, vendors, and internal departments to ensure smooth event execution.
- Support crowd flow, facility cleanliness, guest safety, and operational efficiency during events.
Facility Maintenance & Stadium Readiness
- Assist in maintaining stadium infrastructure including seating areas, concourses, suites, restrooms, club spaces, and field-level areas.
- Perform routine inspections of stadium equipment, tools, storage areas, and operational spaces.
- Assist with preventative maintenance projects and facility improvement initiatives.
- Help coordinate and track work orders, repairs, and vendor service requests.
- Maintain inventory of operations supplies, equipment, and event conversion materials.
Field & Grounds Support (Turf Field Operations)
- Assist with preparation, upkeep, and presentation of the turf playing surface and surrounding field-level areas for baseball, soccer, tournaments, and special events.
- Support event changeovers and conversions including portable pitching mound/plate setup, soccer goals, field markings, dugout readiness, and equipment placement.
- Help maintain turf field quality through routine grooming, inspections, cleaning, and debris removal.
- Assist with field painting/lining as needed for soccer, football-style events, tournaments, and championship play.
- Ensure the field and player areas meet safety and performance standards for athletes, officials, and event organizers.
Staff Coordination & Operational Leadership
- Support supervision and coordination of part-time operations staff, interns, and event labor crews.
- Assist with scheduling and assigning event conversion duties.
- Provide leadership during event operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Serve as a point of contact for stadium operations needs during events.
Safety, Compliance & Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure all event setups follow safety standards, operational procedures, and venue policies.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with fire codes, occupancy regulations, and operational best practices.
- Support emergency action planning and assist Public Safety with event readiness.
- Report hazards and help resolve facility concerns immediately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Facility Management, Event Management, or related field preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in stadium operations, facility management, event operations, or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of event setup logistics, facility conversions, and operational workflows.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Comfortable working long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff, event partners, vendors, and promoters.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow event diagrams, layouts, and conversion plans.
- Ability to operate stadium equipment and basic facility tools (hand tools, carts, ladders, etc.).
- Familiarity with operational equipment such as forklifts, gators, pallet jacks, scissor lifts (preferred but not required).
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, vendors, promoters, and clients.
- Ability to problem solve quickly in high-pressure environments.
- Professional attitude and strong customer service mindset.
Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility due to event schedules. Hours include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with peak activity occurring during baseball season and summer event months.
