LAKE ERIE CRUSHERS | MANAGER OF COMMUNICATIONS & BROADCASTING | FULL TIME 

The Lake Erie Crushers are a professional baseball team in Avon, Ohio, just 18 miles west of Cleveland. We compete in the Frontier League (rebranding for the 2027 season to the National Association of Professional Baseball), a proud MLB Partner League, and have brought a family-friendly, fan-oriented experience to Northeast Ohio since 2009. As Lorain County’s only professional sports franchise, the Lake Erie Crushers are the largest economic driver in Lorain County, hosting more than 200 events per year that include baseball, concerts, charity functions, and other events that bring the community of Avon together. Len Komoroski is the Crushers Chairman and Managing Partner, and the team is led by President Vic Gregovits. Jared Lemieux, a Maine Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, is in his fourth season as field manager. 

The Manager of Communications & Broadcasting is a full-time position that will merge the importance of baseball communications, publicity, marketing and marketing communications, community, broadcasting and overall organizational collaboration. This role will be an integral part of the management team and will support our focus on building a top-tier organization. This position will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans that align with organizational objectives, driving media coverage and brand visibility across media outlets for the Crushers, ForeFront Field, events and business development. 
  • Lead the development of storylines in collaboration with baseball, marketing and internal teams, driving compelling narratives that amplify team identity, milestones, and key moments. 
  • Execute proactive media outreach, brand alignment, and integrated communications campaigns. 
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with media personnel, league communications teams, and broadcast partners. 
  • Support organization-wide marketing efforts, as well as brand alliances and sales initiatives, by aligning communications strategies with overarching goals. 
  • Write all organizational press releases and effectively distribute them to local media outlets. This includes baseball, corporate, marketing, community, and other organizational messaging as needed.  
  • Proactively work with local media to garner earned media for organization-wide communications opportunities and develop a written communications strategy focused on achieving defined efforts.  
  • Manage and update the organizational media contact list, including baseball, corporate, marketing, community and other key contacts that expand outside of the sport. 
  • Respond to media inquiries in a timely manner. 
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with other internal teams within the organization to stay informed about new initiatives, programs, and other organization-wide events that should be elevated by communications messages and provide actionable recommendations to achieve the goal. 
  • Support the development, maintenance, and activation of the organizational sales and marketing calendar as a key guide to our marketing and communications strategy. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining an updated list of annual community events and other key community timelines (youth baseball schedule, Spring Breaks, etc.) and remaining engaged with sales initiatives and potential storylines that could benefit from a marketing and communications approach. 
  • Partner with colleagues to uncover and recommend media and social media pitch opportunities and editorial plans that expand beyond baseball and into the active storytelling of the Crushers based on brand objectives. 
  • Make active recommendations to how all organizational communications strategies and opportunities can extend into newsletters and social media posts.  
  • Assist with posting and managing the team’s social media accounts. 
  • Prepare all necessary game day and season baseball communications, including but not limited to statistical summaries, game notes, line ups, athlete bios and all information needed by coaches, media or the fan base to effectively communicate baseball-related information to our community. 
  • Follow all baseball related activities, including try outs, training, and all Crushers home and road games to: 
  • Craft game night stories to local media outlets for publication 
  • Support the development of in-game updates for Crushers' social media accounts. 
  • Provide fully crafted content concepts to promote baseball related activities to our fans, and concepts to elevate players and team personalities. 
  • Make recommendations for similar content for the organization's web site, newsletters, and for in-game presentation and broadcast use to elevate athlete images and storytelling. 
  • Manage the press box, including the distribution of team statistical materials. 
  • Act as the road game broadcaster for all games and be ready to step into the broadcast booth where assistance is needed. 
  • Be the primary point of contact for RESN and HomeTeam broadcasts and all corresponding production requirements, including trafficking commercial spots. 
  • Effectively prepare a broadcast plan and remain connected with the broadcast team to actively define and provide support as needed. 
  • Monitor storytelling by other Frontier League teams, local sports properties and other well-established teams to help guide ideas that could be pursued by the Crushers in local media and social media. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • 2+ years of experience in communications or broadcasting. 
  • Strong team player and self-starter. 
  • Strong project management, planning, and budgeting skills. 
  • Self-motivated, TEAM-oriented mindset. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business. opportunities and implement recommended solutions. 
  • Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays as required. 
  • Driven to succeed and overcome obstacles through hard work and determination. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications or related major is preferred.
