The Lake Erie Crushers are seeking a high-energy Assistant Food & Beverage Manager for the 2026 season. This position will play a key role in the daily execution of our food and beverage operation, with a strong focus on kitchen management, food quality, staff leadership, and guest experience.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid culinary background who understands the pace of a high-volume environment and is comfortable jumping in wherever needed. The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will help oversee kitchen operations, support bar and concession execution, train seasonal staff, manage inventory, and ensure the department operates with consistency, cleanliness, and pride.

This position serves as a bridge between the culinary, service, and management teams to help create a smooth and memorable experience for every guest who walks through the ballpark.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen & Culinary Operations

  •  Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep, production, service flow, and closing procedures. 
  •  Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, presentation, and speed of service. 
  •  Assist with menu execution for concessions, suites, group areas, catering, and special events. 
  •  Step onto the line during peak periods to support staff and lead by example. 
  •  Ensure food is prepared and served according to health, safety, and team standards. 
  •  Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, waste control, and overall food execution. 

Food & Beverage Operations

  •  Support the overall food and beverage operation during games, events, and non-game day functions. 
  •  Assist with setup, service, and breakdown of concession stands, bars, suites, picnics, and group hospitality areas. 
  •  Help manage the bar program, including product inventory, drink consistency, responsible alcohol service, and compliance. 
  •  Monitor guest service standards and assist with resolving guest concerns in a professional manner. 
  •  Work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and other department leaders to ensure event needs are properly executed. 

Staff Leadership & Training

  •  Help recruit, train, schedule, and supervise seasonal food and beverage team members. 
  •  Provide hands-on leadership for cooks, concession workers, servers, bartenders, runners, and support staff. 
  •  Set clear expectations for appearance, service, cleanliness, and accountability. 
  •  Coach staff during events to improve speed, quality, teamwork, and guest interaction. 
  •  Foster a positive team environment where seasonal employees feel supported and prepared. 

Inventory, Ordering & Cost Control

  •  Assist with ordering, receiving, organizing, and storing food, beverage, and supply inventory. 
  •  Conduct regular inventory counts and help maintain accurate records. 
  •  Monitor product usage, waste, spoilage, and portion control. 
  •  Work with management to help control food cost, beverage cost, and labor expenses. 
  •  Ensure storage areas, walk-ins, dry storage, bars, and concession areas remain clean and organized. 

Health, Safety & Compliance

  •  Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards. 
  •  Ensure proper food handling, labeling, rotation, temperature checks, and storage procedures. 
  •  Support compliance with local health department standards and alcohol service regulations. 
  •  Help maintain a safe working environment for staff and guests. 
  •  Assist with preparation for health inspections and internal operational reviews. 

Administrative Support

  •  Use POS systems to track sales, review transactions, and support basic reporting. 
  •  Assist with labor tracking, event staffing needs, and daily operational notes. 
  •  Help resolve guest billing questions or POS-related issues. 
  •  Support post-event recaps, inventory updates, and department communication. 
  •  Complete other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the food and beverage operation. 

Required Qualifications

  •  Prior experience in high-volume cooking, kitchen supervision, food service management, or hospitality operations. 
  •  Ability to lead and support a diverse seasonal staff in a fast-paced environment. 
  •  Strong understanding of food quality, kitchen organization, sanitation, and service standards. 
  •  Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during the season. 
  •  Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-focused under pressure. 
  •  Strong communication skills and a team-first approach. 
  •  Basic understanding of bar operations and responsible alcohol service. 

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Experience in sports, entertainment, seasonal, resort, catering, or event-based food service. 
  •  Culinary arts degree or hospitality management training. 
  •  ServSafe, Food Handlers, TIPS, or other alcohol service certification. 
  •  Experience with POS systems such as Shift4, Toast, Square, or similar platforms. 
  •  Basic knowledge of inventory control, food cost, labor management, and reporting. 
  •  Comfort using basic office software for schedules, reporting, and communication.
