The Joliet Slammers are a professional baseball team in the MLB Partner Frontier League located in Joliet, IL dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for fans in the city of Joliet and surrounding areas. As we continue to grow during this exciting time, we are seeking a passionate and results-driven Manager of Promotions to join our talented team.
Position Summary and Objective:
The Joliet Slammers baseball team is looking for a creative and energetic individual to run the promotions and Slammers game experience while providing a high level of entertainment for Slammers’ fans. This position will also be required to generate revenue through targeted ticket sales categories including season tickets, group tickets, suites, fundraisers and hospitality packages.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the EVP Sales and Marketing in the planning and executing of all promotional and theme nights.
- Work closely with Manager of Partnerships to ensure delivery of partnerships and activations based on available inventory
- Leading all on field and in-between innings promotional activities from brainstorm to execution.
- Hire and oversee promotional interns and associated staff.
- Assisting in scheduling and executing mascot appearances with community relations and other departments
- Collaborate with venue staff (video board design, audio/visual, on-field staff, mascot, and PA announcer) in collaborating to produce all elements of the Slammers in-game experience including videos, music, graphics and promotional initiatives
- Developing, planning, scripting, and executing all in-game entertainment, marketing, and team sponsorship requirements
- Collaborating with the EVP Sales and Marketing and Marketing Manager to help order, design and distribute promotional products and giveaways
- Organizing and preparing all relevant information for Game Production and Staff Meetings
- Work with internal departments and external vendors to plan and execute “all-inclusive” theme nights and promotional calendar for all home games
- Schedule and book entertainment acts and/or celebrities, while maintaining an annual budget
- Scheduling and preparing all pre-game, in-game and post-game promotions
- Other responsibilities as requested within the Marketing department
Sales Responsibilities:
- Meeting and exceeding sales goals
- Developing NEW business via phone calls, emails and face to face meetings
- Generating leads within our CRM, as well as online and in person prospecting (networking events)
- Effectively follow up with clients to help provide repeat business and to meet excellent customer service requirements
- Meet sales department outreach requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, sport management or a related field from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge, experience
- Ability to work across departments for the benefit of the organization
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a fast paced, team environment.
- People oriented, able to multitask, organized, motivated and detail focused
- At least 2 years of experience in professional sports (promotions, sales or community relations preferred)
- Coachable attitude and willingness to learn
- Experience in game operations and/or writing game scripts at the college or professional level a plus
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings during the season
Compensation:
Salary and commission structure commensurate with experience
(Salary Range: $30,000-$40,000/year)
