Community Relations Intern - Job Description
Company Overview:
The Joliet Slammers are the professional baseball team in Joliet, a part of the Frontier League,
a Partner League of Major League Baseball, that are dedicated to providing exceptional
experiences for fans in the city of Joliet and surrounding Chicagoland area. The right individual
will be an integral part of the team to promote the Slammers positive culture, attitudes, and
experiences for fans of all ages across all departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Maintain, update, and organize CRM databases for schools, nonprofits, and youth
organizations to improve outreach efficiency and relationship tracking
● Assist with community outreach efforts, including emails, calls, and follow-ups to
strengthen partner engagement and retention
● Organize and transition physical records into structured digital CRM systems
● Support communication with bat kids and 50/50 raffle groups, including sending
guidelines and expectations for participation
● Fulfill donation requests and accurately log activity to support fundraising and ticket
sales initiatives
● Track 50/50 raffle sales during home games and assist with post-event follow-up to
encourage repeat bookings
● Assist in planning and executing community events, player appearances, and youth
initiatives
● Provide game-day operational support, including bat kids coordination, waiver collection,
group hospitality, national anthem and pregame performances, and promotional
giveaways
● Help manage group experiences by directing partners to suites or designated seating
areas
● Contribute to improving event execution, fan experience, and overall operational
efficiency
The ideal candidate:
●Currently attending a college or university.
●Able to work all 51 or a majority of home games and additional off-site events.
●Ability to work office hours on non game days, 8am-4pm.
●Has strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially when managing
databases and records.
●Comfortable with data entry and maintaining CRM systems (or willing to learn).
●Has strong communication and customer service skills, including email and phone
outreach.
●Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced, everchanging environment
●Are highly motivated with a strong work ethic
●Able to work independently as well as a part of a team.
●Has an interest in community relations, event planning, or the sports industry.
●Comfortable interacting with community groups, youth participants, and partners in a
professional manner.
●Has reliable transportation to commute to downtown Joliet.
