The Joliet Slammers are Joliet’s hometown professional baseball team, competing in the Frontier League — a Partner League of Major League Baseball. Position Overview:
The Joliet Slammers are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated college students to join our Baseball Operations Department for the 2026 Frontier League season. As a Baseball Operations Intern, you will gain first-hand experience in the on-field and analytical side of a professional baseball franchise. This role offers exposure to scouting, statistical analysis, player development, game-day execution, and behind-the-scenes baseball operations work that supports the coaching staff and front office.Every day is different with the Slammers, and the ideal intern thrives in a fast-paced, baseball-focused environment where adaptability and attention to detail matter.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
-Work with the Baseball Operations staff to prepare advance scouting reports and assist with analytics-based projects.
-Prepare daily stat packs, data summaries, and other reports for coaches and front office personnel.
-Assist the coaching staff before, during, and after all home games.
-Chart all home games using TrackMan interface and ensure accurate data uploads to BaseballCloud.
-Clean and organize post-game data using Excel and other analytics tools.
-Communicate directly with the coaching staff to ensure accuracy and consistency of all data entry.
-Create and submit post-game reports in a timely and organized fashion.
-Assist with various game-day activities and operational needs.
-Support the day-to-day functions of the organization — a true all-around baseball operations experience.
-Non-game day hours for projects and team needs will be discussed at the start of the internship.
The ideal candidate:
-Is currently attending a college or university.
-Has a strong understanding of baseball, both traditionally and analytically.
-Can recognize pitch types from the dugout or in a live-game setting.
-Has strong computer proficiency and can learn new software quickly.
-Possesses excellent verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
-Is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a passion for working in baseball.
-Can work all Slammers home games and understands that extended hours are required on game days.
-Is able to work non-game days for special projects and Baseball Ops assignments.
-Has strong organizational skills and thrives in a team-oriented environment.
-Has reliable transportation and the ability to commute to downtown Joliet.
Please note: The Slammers do not provide housing for interns. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing and transportation.
This is an unpaid internship for college credit.
