The Florence Y’alls are a professional baseball team competing in the Frontier League, a Partner League of Major League Baseball. The organization is committed to player development, high-performance standards, and delivering a first-class experience both on and off the field.
Position Summary
The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for overseeing the health, safety, and physical readiness of all players. This role requires a proactive, organized, and highly skilled professional who can manage injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation in a fast-paced professional baseball environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary healthcare provider for all players
- Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries
- Develop and implement injury prevention programs
- Coordinate daily treatment schedules, including pre- and post-game routines
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all players
- Communicate player health status to coaching staff and front office
- Travel with the team for all away games
- Coordinate with team physician(s) and outside medical providers as needed
- Oversee hydration, nutrition support (as applicable), and recovery protocols
- Ensure compliance with league health and safety standards
- Manage athletic training room operations and inventory
Schedule & Work Expectations
- Full-time commitment during the season (May–September)
- Report to stadium daily on game days (typically 3–4 hours prior to first pitch)
- Attend all home and away games
- Offseason availability for planning, reporting, and occasional player support
Qualifications
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through BOC required
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of Kentucky
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree required
- Prior experience in professional or collegiate baseball strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of baseball-specific injuries and recovery protocols
- Ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience with manual therapy techniques
- Familiarity with strength and conditioning integration
- Knowledge of data tracking and player workload management
- CPR/AED certification (required)
