Position Overview

The Archivist Intern will help organize, preserve, and showcase the rich history of the Evansville Otters, including decades of player stories, game highlights, memorabilia, and community impact. This role combines archival work with the excitement of professional sports, offering hands-on experience managing historical materials, digitizing team media, and supporting fan-facing storytelling projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about baseball history, and enthusiastic about preserving the legacy of a beloved community team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and preserve team history: Organize and rehouse archival materials such as scorecards, programs, photographs, game-worn uniforms, equipment, press releases, and promotional items.

  • Digitize media assets: Scan photographs, documents, slides, and other team materials; digitize video highlights or historic broadcast footage.

  • Create and update metadata: Catalog items in the team’s digital asset management system; assist in developing inventories and finding aids for staff use.

  • Support storytelling projects: Provide historical research for social media features, in-game video board content, museum-style displays, and anniversary celebrations.

  • Assist game-day programming: Help prepare historical exhibits, memory walls, and special displays for theme nights (e.g., Throwback Nights, Alumni Nights).

  • Collaborate with marketing and communications: Locate archival materials for publications, media requests, player reunions, and press kits.

  • Maintain archive organization: Ensure proper storage of physical and digital collections following archival best practices.
