Position Overview:
The Brockton Rox are seeking motivated, hardworking individuals for a Turf & Grounds Management Internship. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in sports turf management, horticulture, or facility operations. Interns will play an essential role in maintaining a safe, high-quality playing surface for players and an exceptional experience for fans. This includes all 48 home Rox games as well as additional non-gameday events.
Please note this is an unpaid internship. College credit is applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily field preparation, including mowing, edging, and lining
- Maintain infield skin, pitcher’s mound, and home plate areas
- Support irrigation setup, monitoring, and repairs
- Perform turf care practices such as aeration, fertilization, and overseeding
- Prepare the field before games and assist with post-game cleanup
- Help with tarp pulls and weather-related field protection
- Maintain warning track, bullpens, and surrounding facility areas
- Operate and maintain basic groundskeeping equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and organizational standards
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Turfgrass Management, Sports Management, or related field (preferred but not required)
- MUST be able to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality field conditions
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with landscaping or groundskeeping equipment
