The Traverse City Beach Bums Professional Baseball Club is looking for a driven, dynamic, and high-energy individual for the position of Promotions/Special Events Director. This individual will be mainly be responsible for:

--Designing, marketing, and running the Beach Bums new event schedule including but not limited to festivals, markets, amateur sports, concerts, and more
--Designing, ordering, and planning the promotions for all 48 Beach Bums home games
--Create and sell marketing campaigns to help promote local businesses

Salary commensurate with experience plus sales commission and merit based bonus structure (when eligible)

Job Summary:
Organize and implement a comprehensive special event schedule and promotions campaign for Wuerfel Park and the Traverse City Beach Bums

Essential Functions:
  • Planning and implementation of all Traverse City Beach Bums promotion activities
  • Planning and implementation of the seasonal special events & festivals
  • Planning and implementation of Suntan & Sunburn's Reading Program
  • Oversee hiring and scheduling of team mascots
  • Responsible for writing all game day scripts and working with all connected to ensure a seamless entertainment experience for the fans
  • Coordinate any community related activities included in sponsorship packages
  • Enhance and generate revenue in-season and off-season in every part of the organization
  • Train staff (interns) and be responsible for providing unsurpassed customer service
  • Manage and control budgeted revenues and expenses for all areas of responsibility
  • Strive at all times to make the Traverse City Beach Bums a first-class professional sports organization; work diligently to build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners, the media, the fans and the community
  • Work at all times to provide the ultimate entertainment experience to all patrons of the Traverse City Beach Bums 
  • Additional duties as assigned by the general manager

Other Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Beach Bums staff members to achieve effective marketing/communications for the organization
  • Coordinate in-park, on-field and between-inning game day promotions
  • Organize and attend outside promotional events and assist with grassroots marketing efforts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience preferably in a sports environment
Skills Required: 
  • A great imagination w design experience
  • Significant background and experience in baseball promotions and special events 
  • Aggressive, enthusiastic and motivated individual
  • Strong interpersonal skills a must
  • Superior organizational habits and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be goal oriented, hard working, teachable and driven to be the best
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Generate a minimum of $75K in sponsorship sales.  (5% commission paid monthly on paid sponsorship sales/party patio sales.  7% on new sponsorship sales, commission paid as sponsor pays.)
Hours of Work: Typical hours of non-game day work will be 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (and beyond). Off-season schedule is Monday through Friday, weekends off November through March.  Adaptability is a key component of this position.  Position requires appearances with mascots and/or players outside of scheduled work hours as required by promotions and scheduled community events.
This position has important game day responsibilities.  Estimated game day hours will be 9 AM – 10 PM (and beyond). 
Start Date: ASAP  (February 1st, 2018 or before if possible)
· Ten days paid vacation per year
