DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW: 
The Medical staff at the Boston Red Sox provides the highest quality of care to our players to maximize short- and long-term health and performance within the organization’s philosophies and processes. As a group, we promote healthfulness by integrating all areas of the medical team and adjacent performance departments to reduce injury and illness rates, provide precise and timely evaluation and treatment, and provide long term strategies to educate the players and staff.
 
POSITION OVERVIEW:   
The Boston Red Sox are hiring a Minor League Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer for the remainder of the 2026 season. The position will be located in Worcester, MA with the option of Fort Myers, FL after the 2026 MLB Draft. Report date will be in mid-May and employment will run through the completion of the assigned Minor League Affiliate Season, with a possibility to continue with off-season camp hosted in Fort Myers until November 2026. The Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to coverage of the assigned Minor League Affiliate Season, and post-season camps. Chosen candidates should expect a great learning opportunity in an advancing field of evidence-based practice while gaining valuable experience working within a professional sports medicine team.
 
The hourly rate for this role is $15.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Scheduling and execution of athlete monitoring assessments and data collection for Strength and Conditioning, Health & Performance, Sports Science and other baseball initiatives.
  • Learn and aid in the proper documentation within the MLB EMR system.
  • Assist in various administrative duties/reporting procedures.
  • Coordinate and administer infection control duties.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Able to establish trust and build rapport with players and staff from a diverse set of cultures and backgrounds.
  • Effective when treating regional or specific impairments and an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, etc.
  • Able to prescribe appropriate exercise for injury prevention, motor control, conditioning, and therapeutic purposes.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) or be enrolled in a CAATE accredited program and eligible to sit for BOC exam prior to the position start date, or during course of employment.
  • Eligible for state athletic training licensure in affiliated state.
  • Applicants are required to be available full-time for the duration of the minor-league baseball season running from May 2026 through September 2026.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and able to effectively communicate with a wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
  • Prior experience and/or additional certification in strength & conditioning is preferable.
  • Prior baseball experience and fluency in Spanish are a plus but not required.
