The Somerset Patriots are looking for an Official Scorer to record, and when appropriate, make judgements relating to the outcome of each play occurring during the home schedule of MiLB games.
The Official Scorer will be responsible for recording every action and result of play. The Official Scorer is responsible for interpreting the rule book and making decisions that affect statistical records of professional ballplayers. It’s a fun and unique job that requires you to watch baseball!
Qualified Applicants should have:
- A complete and well above average knowledge of the game of baseball.
- A working knowledge of MLB’s “Official Baseball Rules”
- Experience as an Official Scorer in professional baseball or at the college level is preferred.
- The ability to work harmoniously with the data collection personnel and be a cohesive member of the press box team.
- Willingness to, in good faith, discuss and share knowledge in relation to decisions.
- Reliability and punctuality
- The ability to work nights and weekends
- Scheduling flexibility
- *Must take a MLB training course.*
