 This is expected to be a contracted, project-based position, with workload that ebbs and flows depending on scheduled events, from concerts, corporate events, and private functions.

Position Summary:
804LIVE is the events and entertainment provider of CarMax Park. The Technical Manager Event (‘Manager’) for 804LIVE will lead all aspects of technical operations and production management for events taking place in the AUB Lounge, as well as other performance venues inside CarMax Park.  In addition, the Manager will play a key role in planning and supporting events, attractions and concerts utilizing the full stadium and field configuration.  This role partners closely with the Booking Director and Events Manager as well the CarMax Park Operations team to guarantee every event runs seamlessly, professionally, safely, and with the highest standard in guest service and partner experience.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Events:
  • Manage and oversee the full technical event lifecycle for assigned events, from load-in and on-site operations through event-day activities to the complete load-out of all equipment.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for event planners and tour managers regarding Venue technical specifications and other related information.
  • Advance technical and operations details for upcoming shows / events with event planners, touring production, promoters and artists.
  • Schedule and supervise technical labor for events including load-in / load-out and run of show.
  • Coordinate and oversee specialized technical labor, including audio, lighting, and audiovisual (AV) support.
  • Direct and manage load-in, soundcheck, performance, and load-out for all events.
  • Conduct pre-event readiness and safety checks.
  • Troubleshoot event day issues efficiently and swiftly and be highly responsive to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Coordinate with the Production Coordinator to plan all logistics and operational aspects from load-in through performance to load-out, ensuring seamless show execution.
 Venue:
  • Maintain and update venue technical manual, CAD drawings and other related Venue information.  
  • Provide quotes on labor, equipment rental, back-line, etc., as needed to inform proposals and budgets. 
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive inventory of all venue equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules for upkeep of lighting, AV, staging, curtains/drapes, and other equipment.
  • Manage inventory of required parts and supplies.
  • Generate and maintain key Venue documentation such as inspection records, maintenance schedules, equipment warranties, etc. 
  • Inspect audio, lighting, and video systems regularly to ensure peak performance, and recommend repairs or upgrades as needed.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on site quickly and effectively.
  • Make recommendations on the design and acquisition of technical equipment as necessary.
  • Responsible for appropriate and safe operation of all Venue equipment.
  • Assist in creating Venue overhead and operating budgets and in tracking relevant expense data such as supplies, parts, etc. 
  • Manage relationships with vendors and rental companies as needed. 
  • Represent 804LIVE’s brand and standards with professionalism and responsiveness at all times.

Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical operations for live entertainment and/or sports, preferably in a stadium, theater, arena, amphitheater, or touring environment. 
  • Experience in stage lighting, audio, and video systems.
  • Experience scheduling and managing stagehand labor. 
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously; able to prioritize effectively and remain calm under pressure. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with Microsoft 365 preferred. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, proactive problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
