The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have established themselves as one of the most recognizable brands in Minor League Baseball since their inaugural season in 2010. Guided by three pillars – be different, be impactful and have FUNN – the organization has ingrained itself in Central Virginia, annually reaching more than 10,000 students through the club's education programs while making 400-plus community appearances. Additionally, the team has renovated multiple youth baseball and softball fields across the city and awarded numerous scholarships through its 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Flying Squirrels Charities. The Flying Squirrels consistently rank among the top-drawing teams in MiLB having led all 30 Double-A teams in total and average attendance each of the past four seasons.
Job Summary
The Richmond Flying Squirrels are seeking a Creative Services & Graphic Design Associate to assist in the execution of the creative and strategic vision that elevates our brand, engages fans, and strengthens community connections through graphic design – both print and digital media. This role helps to ensure a consistent and compelling brand presence across all design projects in marketing, merchandise, social media, etc. The Associate will support the Creative Services Department in delivering compelling and innovative design assets, enhancing the fan experience, and supporting key organizational goals - including the highly anticipated launch of CarMax Park.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Creative Services Department in the development, completion, and delivery of graphic design projects that supports various organizational objectives: brand storytelling, marketing campaigns, corporate partnership initiatives, and 804 Live Events at CarMax Park.
- Manage and regularly maintain various content libraries, including but not limited to brand guides, league logos, audio, evergreens, replay clips and highlights, in-game footage, player content, and motion graphics.
- Assist the Creative Services department during normal business hours in various design projects submitted through the internal jobs form.
- Occasionally assist with outside of office hour design projects related to but not limited to baseball media day, baseball game days, or other outside live events.
- Fulfill other Creative Services department and team-wide initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication Design, or related field is preferred. Or working toward a bachelor’s degree in design or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum one (1) year of design experience, ideally in sports, entertainment, or live events.
- Strong understanding of graphic design standards and principles, print production, and digital design best practices.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud to support and execute both brand development strategies and corporate partnership programming.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Proven ability to think creatively and move quickly toward collaborative success in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
- Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
