Position Summary
The Usher serves as a front-line ambassador for the Portland Sea Dogs, ensuring fans have a positive, safe, and enjoyable experience at Delta Dental Park. Ushers provide exceptional customer service, assist with seating, monitor assigned sections, and help maintain a secure and family-friendly environment during games and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet fans with enthusiasm and professionalism upon arrival
- Check tickets and direct guests to the appropriate seating sections
- Assist fans in locating seats and resolving seating questions
- Monitor assigned seating areas to ensure safety and comfort
- Enforce ballpark policies in a courteous and respectful manner
- Provide accurate information regarding ballpark amenities, promotions, and special events
- Assist with crowd flow before, during, and after games
- Respond promptly to guest concerns and communicate issues to supervisors
- Support emergency procedures and safety protocols as directed
- Enhance the Fan Experience
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor
- Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in high-energy situations
- Comfortable standing for extended periods (3–4+ hours)
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season
- Ability to work at least 75% of the Sea Dogs’ home games
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or event staffing
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Knowledge of baseball or interest in sports and live events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
