The Portland Sea Dogs are actively seeking applicants for the position of assistant groundskeeper. The position is a full-time salaried position. All applicants should be able to work in a fast-paced professional environment. Applicants are expected to possess the necessary skills to carry out daily tasks while working both independently and with others on a professional baseball field, while representing the Portland Sea Dogs and Minor League Baseball to the highest standards.
This position is ideal for someone with one to two years of turf management experience.
Duties:
All duties are not limited to but include the following.
- All aspects of daily infield skin maintenance.
- Mound, Plate, and infield Clay repairs.
- Mowing, aeration, top dressing, and edge maintenance.
- Assisting with tarp pulls.
- Warning Track maintenance.
- Daily equipment care and maintenance.
- Fertilization and pesticide applications.
- Ability to operate sports turf equipment in a safe manner.
- Must be able to work well with the head groundskeeper to execute all functions of the grounds department. Duties are not limited to but may also include outside events and concerts.
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds repetitively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Required to work, day, nights and weekends as directed.
