Position:  The Somerset Patriots, the new AA affiliate of the NY Yankees, have summer internships available on the grounds crew for 2021.  

Crew members will assist the head groundskeeper with maintaining the field and grounds at TD Bank Ballpark.  

The internship runs May-August with a flexible start / end date and is open to students in turf management or related majors. No experience is necessary, though candidates with prior grounds experience are preferred. 
 
Ideal candidates should have an interest in sports turf management, be reliable, and have a strong work ethic.  

Interns are responsible for working all scheduled home games and events plus select non-game days averaging 20 workdays per month and will receive compensation and college credit where applicable.  Past crew members have gone onto work for golf courses, municipal grounds departments, minor league, MLB, and MLS teams.

Job Description:  Assist head groundskeeper with maintaining a professional baseball field including infield dirt and clay work, bullpen repair, field painting, mowing, tarp pulls, landscaping, set up for batting practice / games, and other duties as assigned.  Training is provided on various grounds equipment including mowers, infield pro, trimmers, edgers, blowers, paint machine, and utility vehicles.  Interns must be able to work flexible hours in various weather conditions including nights, weekends, and some holidays depending on the game schedule.  Rotating shifts are used on game days to minimize excessive hours and off days are scheduled when the team is on the road.
