Summary:
The Visiting Clubhouse Manager’s primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional hospitality and care for visiting teams & umpires as they use the facilities at Fifth Third Park & to oversee the cleanliness, upkeep, and order of their spaces, including the clubhouse, dugouts & other areas used. The Visiting Clubhouse Manager will report directly to the Spartanburgers’ Director, Ballpark Operations. This seasonal position will begin in March and run through September, with the exact end date contingent on the playoffs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up visiting team and umpire spaces in advance of the season & break them down after the season.
- Communicating with the visiting team in advance of the homestand to plan grocery shopping, post-game meal catering, time of arrival & exit, etc.
- Assisting with home team arrival, including unloading buses, preparing snacks, organizing lockers, laundering travel gear, etc.
- Fully assist umpires during their stay, including snacks/meals, laundering uniforms, cleaning their locker room, etc.
- Laundering all the visiting team's uniforms, personnel, and towels as needed.
- Shopping for/purchasing/preparing food and drink for pre-game snacks and a spread for visiting team personnel and umpires, per PDL Guidelines.
- Assisting visiting teams with receiving & placing post-game meal delivery in the visiting team lounge.
- Maintaining inventory of groceries, cookware, dugout supplies, restroom/shower supplies, & clubhouse furniture.
- Working with the Operations Team and any Third Parties to maintain cleanliness and organization of the entire visiting clubhouse & umpires' locker rooms, including coaches’ offices, dressing areas, restrooms, showers, training room, laundry room, storage areas, and batting cages before, during, and after ballgames.
- Preparing the visitors' dugout & bullpen before team workouts/batting practice.
- Working with the Director, Field Operations, and the grounds crew in the setup & breakdown of BP/Infield, bullpens, cages, etc., as needed.
- Communicate with Spartanburgers management consistently to report needs or issues from the visiting team or umpires, and to request assistance as needed.
- Assist the Home Clubhouse Manager with various tasks as needed.
- Being available to assist visiting players & staff with additional requests to earn tips.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous experience in clubhouse management or a related field is required.
- Experience working within a budget, planning & projecting expenses preferred, but not required.
Requirements:
- Ability to adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Spartanburgers & Major League Baseball.
- Willingness & ability to work long & irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and/or holidays throughout the duration of the season.
- Ability to work all sixty-six (66) home games & any home playoff games during the 2025 season.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs., stand and/or walk for extended periods in typical & adverse weather, including rain, cold & heat.
- Ability to interact professionally with home & visiting coaching staff & players, umpires, MLB officials & Spartanburgers Front Office Staff.
- Ability to successfully operate in a fast-paced professional sports environment.
