Overview:
The Hub City Spartanburgers, the High-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers and newest MiLB team in the country, are searching for an enthusiastic, organized and motivated individuals to help develop a culture of fun and entertainment as the team’s mascot. The ideal candidates have experience as a costumed mascot, possesses excellent non-verbal communication skills, is athletically and physically fit, and has a creative, humorous and lovable personality. Successful candidates should have one or more of the following attributes:
- Lettered in a High School Sport
- Have Dance, Gymnastics or Acting Experience/Training
- Have Costume Performance Experience
- Have an understanding of entertainment with the sports environment
This is a part-time position with the majority of work hours being based on the game schedule and scheduled mascot appearances.
Responsibilities (Including but not Limited to):
- Perform and entertain at most home regular season games & playoffs, Team events, community appearances, and various other games or events
- Responsible in assisting with mascot costume operations including creativity, care, cleaning, maintenance, repairs, etc.
- Work directly with the Manager, Community Relations & Guest Services to coordinate appearance schedule connected to community initiatives and build community outreach programming involving the Mascot
- Work directly with the Manager, Game Day Promotions & Programming to coordinate game schedule and in-game activities
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to execute Mascot activations for team-wide branding initiatives, digital and social media strategy (mascot pages on team website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other avenues).
- Responsible for creating fun, memorable moments and smiles for everyone that you come into contact with!
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Athletic and physically fit (able to lift approximately 50 lbs.)
- Must be available to work flexible hours including all home games, nights, weekends and some holidays
- Must be able to work in a costume
- Must be able to work effectively with all employees and team members
- Professional commitment to treat the Mascot’s identity and physical description as if it were any other highly sensitive team information (i.e. strictly confidential)
- Must be courteous, friendly, energetic, reliable, and punctual
- Must possess an extraordinary level of creativity, energy, and spontaneity
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher etc.)
- Must be able to communicate nonverbally and create spontaneous crowd interaction
- Must have a great sense of humor and love people
- Must have reliable transportation as well as a Valid Driver’s License
- Must be a great team player and want to be part of unified culture focused on success
- Choreograph and/or skit-writing experience
- Must be a great dancer
- Must be able to interact and engage with children
- Must be comfortable with close contact with others while in costume
- Music, video editing and event production experience are a plus
- Must develop a routine that includes practice and creative sessions
