Job Title: Official Scorer/Stats Stringer

Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH) is a subsidiary of Endeavor, the global sports and entertainment company. DBH was formed in 2021 to support, promote, and enhance Minor League Baseball through professional management, best practices, innovation and investment.
DBH San Jose/San Jose Giants are currently scouting for an Official Scorer/Stats Stringer for Excite Ballpark. The OS will make and announce all game decisions involving judgement calls based on Rule 9 of the Official Baseball Rules. The OS will communicate scoring rules interpretations to club staff when necessary and approve the official game report sent to MiLB post-game. The Gameday Stringer runs the statistics input program that populates the official box score and in-stadium scoreboard during each home game.
Major responsibilities (OS):
- Keep a detailed scorecard of the game, focusing on every pitch and play
- Make official game declarations as expected of the OS (ex. first pitch time, fielding credits, official delays, winning and losing pitchers, etc.)
- Update the in-stadium video board and broadcast linescores with official scoring decisions
- Coordinate directly with the MiLB stringer in press box, alerting them of all in-game judgement calls as well as approving the official post-game report
- Participate with pre-season and in-season training when required
- Communicate effectively with members of the production teams to ensure a professional game broadcast
- Handle press box equipment in a courteous and respectful manner
Major responsibilities (Stringer):
- As Game Day Stringer, run the Minor League Gameday program that populates the official box score; requires focusing on every pitch and play
- Communicate directly with MiLB stats officials via in-game IM for clarification on string coding
- Participate in required pre-season training
- Communicate effectively with members of the production teams to ensure a professional game broadcast
- Handle press box equipment in a courteous and respectful manner
Qualifications:
- Exceptional (and demonstrable) knowledge of the Official Baseball Rules is required
- Utilize approved online tools to effectively communicate with gameday staff
- Ability to quickly and clearly communicate Official Scoring rules and scoring decisions
- Attention to detail in keeping a scorecard and tracking game totals
- Ability to work within a dynamic, fast-paced live sports environment
- Previous OS experience in professional or amateur baseball is a strong plus
- Moderate computer knowledge is a plus
Applicant is expected to be available for at least half of the 66 San Jose Giants 2026 home games including weekdays, weekends and evenings. This is a seasonal position.
