Organizational Overview:
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are the Double-A affiliate of the 2025 American League Champion the Toronto Blue Jays. As New Hampshire's only professional sports team, the organization serves as a community champion for the City of Manchester and State of New Hampshire while delivering high-quality, family-friendly entertainment.
The Fisher Cats are seeking hardworking, dependable, and self-driven individuals who are motivated to make Delta Dental Stadium the most entertaining experience in the Eastern League and uphold its fan-voted reputation as "Best Ballpark."
Summary:
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are seeking dedicated individuals with flexible availability to fill three press box roles during the 2026 season.
- Official Scorer
- Stringer
- Pitch Clock Operator
All roles will come with required training before the individual is expected to serve the role independently. On-sight training is available to those prior to serving the role independently. All three roles offer the same number of hours per week, with homestands running from Tuesday through Sunday.
Official Scorer:
- Attend and observe all Fisher Cats home games during the 2026 season.
- Work with Stringer/Pitch Clock Operator and provide input, as needed.
- Based on the rules of Major League Baseball, accurately record all game events, including hits, errors, runs, pitching decisions, and other statistics.
- Exercise independent judgment to determine scoring decisions, such as hit versus error, earned versus unearned runs, and pitcher win/loss/saves.
Prior experience as an official scorer (or something closely related to) is required.
Stringer:
- Attend and observe all Fisher Cats home games during the 2026 season.
- Work with Official Scorer/Pitch Clock Operator and provide input, as needed.
- Enter lineups/rosters prior to first pitch into a computer program and establish communication with representatives in New York.
- Provide and enter game information into a computer program, such as balls, strikes, strikeouts, hits, runs, etc.
- Enter information and track the entire game until its’ completion.
- Role will require preseason training to familiarize with required software.
Prior experience is not required, but an extensive baseball background is preferred.
Pitch Clock Operator:
- Attend and observe all Fisher Cats home games during the 2026 season.
- Work with Official Scorer/Stringer and provide input, as needed.
- Meet with umpire crew an hour before the first pitch of every initial game of every homestand to go over necessary information/introductions.
- Operate the clock controller and enter/reset the required time to maintain flow of the game until completion of the game.
Requirements:
- Ability to work a minimum of 3 games per homestand. Long hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of baseball is preferred.
- Must be a team player and be willing to learn new concepts and processes.
- A detailed and thorough knowledge of baseball rules and play.
- Maintain professionalism and decorum during the game, including the ability to remain unbiased in the operation of the pitch clock and stringer data feed.
- Communicate effectively with other gameday staff, including umpires.
- Sit and/or stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Remain attentive to the game for its entire duration.
