Reports to: Manager, Retail Merchandise
Hours: Mon-Fri as required, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Location: Wappingers Falls, NY
Compensation: $16/hourly + $1,000 housing stipend per month

Position Overview:
If you’re looking to break into sports, this is one of the most hands-on ways to do it! The Merchandise Intern plays a key role in operating a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment while gaining real ownership and exposure to the business side of sports. From inventory strategy to in-game sales, this role offers a full-picture view of what it takes to run a successful team store. This is not a “stand behind the counter” internship—you’ll actively contribute to decision-making, operations, and fan experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Retail Operations & Inventory
    •  Assist with merchandise planning, ordering, and inventory management 
    •  Receive, organize, and track product using inventory systems 
    •  Support purchase orders, invoicing, and reporting for accounting 
  • Game Day & Customer Experience
    •  Deliver exceptional service to fans on game days and events 
    •  Operate POS systems for sales, returns, and exchanges 
    •  Ensure store presentation is clean, organized, and visually appealing 
  • Staffing & Leadership Exposure
    •  Assist with hiring, scheduling, and timecard management 
    •  Support training and day-to-day supervision of retail staff 
  • E-Commerce & Marketing Support
    •  Partner with Marketing on online store initiatives and promotions 
    •  Assist with social media and digital presence for merchandise 
    •  Contribute ideas to improve product visibility and sales 
  • Reporting & Analysis
    •  Help track sales trends and inventory movement 
    •  Assist with reporting and insights to support business decisions 

Qualifications:
  •  Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business, or related field 
  •  Strong interest in retail, merchandising, or sports business 
  •  Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities 
  •  Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-first environment 
  •  Strong communication and customer service skills 
  •  Willingness to work nights, weekends, and all home games 
Preferred (not required):
  •  Experience with POS systems, retail, or customer service 
  •  Familiarity with Shopify, Canva, or Adobe tools 

Physical Requirements:
  •  Ability to lift 25–50 lbs 
  •  Ability to stand for extended periods (5+ hours on game days) 
  •  Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
