Overview
Collegiate Baseball Experience, LLC., based in Colonial Heights VA, combines competitive sports and sports entertainment to present a unique fan engagement experience offered by no other sports organization. The organization features multiple brands: the Tri-City Chili Peppers, a summer collegiate wood bat baseball team in the Coastal Plain League; the Chilly Peppers, an alter-ego team that plays exhibition games; the Cosmic Chili Peppers, the newly named team in the Cosmic Sports league, and a soon to be revealed team in the Cosmic Sports league. 

Position Purpose
The Merchandise Associate will play a vital role in our growing area of multi-brand merchandise sales. Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, this position will help to execute merchandise promotion and sales locally, regionally, and nationally while supporting cosmic tour games, our e-commerce sales, and home sales. This position will split the travel to tour sites with another Merchandise Associate so that the amount of travel is shared and no one associate travels to all stops. 
 
This role will work with organizational leadership and colleagues to set and execute strategic objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. 

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for overseeing merchandise execution on gamedays for tour stops 
  • Assist with merchandise set up at tour sites 
  • Restock merchandise based on inventory levels, sales trends, and display needs
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock or out-of-stock items to management for reordering
  • Provide exceptional customer service to fans
  • Assist with training temporary staff members on tour
  • Assist with any issues or concerns from staff or customers 
  • Help reload merchandise trailer after finishing a tour stop
  • Setting up and troubleshooting Point of Sales system 

Qualifications
  • 1 – 2 years experience in merchandise and stadium operations.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business or related field or equivalent professional work experience and/or combination of both work experience and education.
  • Functional knowledge of baseball is strongly preferred.  
  • Awareness of merchandise trends and target audiences. 
  • In tune with digital culture and trends to promote merchandise. 
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality.  
  • Extremely organized, self-motivated and detail oriented.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment. 
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic are a must.
  • Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.  
  • Must have U.S. work authorization. 

Compensation
  • Base Salary: $35,000-40,000/year
  • Tour: The organization will cover flight, ground transportation, lodging and food per diem
  • Option to participate in a health care plan
  • Option to participate in a 401K
  • Sick and vacation time accrual

Hours
  • 9am-5pm Monday-Friday in person at Shepherd Stadium, 901 Meridian Avenue, Colonial Heights VA or our satellite office of XL Sports at 2300 Oak Lake Blvd in Midlothian VA
  • As preparation for the season picks up, hours outside of 9am-5pm and over the weekend will be required
  • During the season, evening, night and weekend hours will be required based on the game schedule, tour needs, community events, special projects, and more
