Position Overview
The Director of Stadium Operations & Food and Beverage is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and event-day execution of The Tri-City Chili Peppers, with a dual focus on delivering an exceptional ballpark experience and leading a profitable, high-quality food and beverage operation. This role oversees facility operations, game-day logistics, concessions, premium hospitality, and health & safety compliance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational expertise, exceptional people-management skills, and a guest-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Stadium Operations
- Oversee all aspects of stadium operations, including maintenance, housekeeping, grounds coordination, and event logistics.
- Develop and implement operational plans for baseball games, and non-baseball events that the Chili Peppers are coordinating or assisting with.
- Manage facility upkeep, including preventative maintenance schedules, repairs, vendor coordination, and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with CPL, and local regulations, including safety standards, fire code, ADA requirements, and emergency procedures.
- Supervise operations staff which includes summer interns.
- Prepare and manage the stadium operations budget, focusing on cost control and efficient resource allocation.
- Maintain inventory control of stadium equipment, supplies, and operational materials.
- Lead game-day setup and breakdown, working closely with baseball operations, promotions, and ticketing departments.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a consistently clean, safe, and welcoming environment for fans, players, and staff.
Food & Beverage Leadership
- Direct all food & beverage operations, including concessions, the beer garden, and suites.
- Establish high standards for food quality, service speed, guest satisfaction, and cleanliness.
- Manage menu planning, product selection, pricing strategies, and seasonal offerings.
- Develop relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts for food, beverage, equipment, and services.
- Maintain all health department and food safety compliance standards; conduct regular inspections and staff training.
- Create staffing plans and oversee hiring, scheduling, training, and performance of F&B personnel and supervisors.
- Forecast demand, manage food/beverage inventory, and monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure profitability.
- Work with marketing and sponsorship teams on specialty items, theme-night offerings, and revenue-generating promotions.
- Analyze sales data to optimize offerings and improve revenue per cap.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience in stadium/arena operations, facility management, or large-scale food & beverage management.
- Experience in Minor League Baseball or other sports/entertainment venues strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing both full-time and seasonal teams.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, concession operations, and inventory management systems.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays during the season.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills for working across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Proficiency with POS systems, facility management systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
