Overview
Collegiate Baseball Experience, LLC., based in Colonial Heights VA, combines competitive sports and sports entertainment to present a unique fan engagement experience offered by no other sports organization. The organization features multiple brands: the Tri-City Chili Peppers, a summer collegiate wood bat baseball team in the Coastal Plain League; the Chilly Peppers, an alter-ego team that plays exhibition games; the Cosmic Chili Peppers of the Cosmic Sports league, and the GlowMojis of the Cosmic Sports league. 

Position Overview
Collegiate Baseball Experience and Cosmic Sports seeks an accomplished, creative and strategic Director of Marketing & Media Relations to manage a marketing and advertising budget, develop and execute marketing campaigns across a variety of media platforms and channels. This position will form and foster relationships with media and influencers within markets we will enter for the purpose of promoting our Cosmic events.  The successful candidate will bring a blend of skills for project management, creative innovation, and  being a collaborative team player that enjoys the challenges and thrills of building brands in a dynamic and growing organization.

This position will start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
Brand Strategy & Development
  • Develop & execute marketing / advertising campaigns to grow and elevate the brand in terms of online presence, fan knowledge and engagement and national awareness 
  • Build relationships with media in markets we will be attending in order to increase awareness and interest
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. merchandise, ticketing)
  • Website management
  • Ensure consistent messaging and visuals across all platforms, events, and campaigns, leading the marketing team to drive key messaging to achieve goals
  • Develop innovative and diverse campaigns to promote games, players, and the fan experience.

Brand Content
  • Implement content that captures a holistic fan experience. 
  • Lead and challenge staff in idea creation for brand-forward content that includes and goes above and beyond game experience. 
  • Ensure content helps to grow followers across multiple platforms. 

Partnerships & Collaborations
  • Work with sponsors and partners to align on co-branded initiatives and promotional opportunities.
  • Identify new media opportunities to grow the Cosmic Takeover Tour and in collaboration with local media outlets. 

Qualifications
  • 3-4 years proven experience in a brand or marketing role, with a strong portfolio of successful brand campaigns and content initiatives. Experience in the sports industry is a plus.
  • Experience in media relations to grow brands and increase event awareness
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • A creative and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of brand development and digital marketing best practices.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire a team and work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in working with creative teams and external vendors (designers, photographers, videographers).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for sports and a general understanding of the professional sports landscape. Experience in sports marketing is a significant plus.
  • Readiness to travel regularly for marketing implementation for the Cosmic Takeover Tour. 
  • Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel when necessary.  
  • Must have U.S. work authorization. 

Compensation
  • Salary: $60-70k
  • Tour: The organization will cover flight, ground transportation, lodging and food per diem
  • Healthcare Plan optional participation
  • Option to participate in a 401K
  • Vacation and sick leave time accrual

Time Commitment
  • 9am-5pm Monday-Friday in person at Shepherd Stadium, 901 Meridian Avenue, Colonial Heights VA 
  • As preparation for the season picks up, hours outside of 9am-5pm and over the weekend will be required
  • During the season, evening, night and weekend hours will be required based on the game schedule, tour needs, community events, special projects, and more
  • Travel to tour stops for up to a week at a time or longer.
