Position Overview

The Director of Group Sales and Special Events  is responsible for generating revenue through the sale of individual and group ticket packages, hospitality areas, theme nights, and Special Events  for the Tri-City Chili Peppers. This role focuses on building strong relationships with businesses, schools, youth sports organizations, community groups, and other large organizations to drive attendance for game day and non game day events. And create memorable experiences at Shepard Stadium.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Proactively sell group ticket packages, hospitality spaces, picnic areas, suite rentals, and theme night opportunities.


  • Conduct high-volume outbound sales calls, emails, and in-person meetings to generate new business.


  • Identify and qualify new group sales leads through prospecting, networking, and community outreach.


  • Create customized ticketing and event solutions to meet the needs of group clients.



Client Management & Retention

  • Provide exceptional customer service by acting as the main point of contact for all group clients.


  • Manage and renew existing group accounts, focusing on year-over-year growth.


  • Serve as on-site host for group outings and hospitality events to ensure client satisfaction.


Corporate Sales 

  • Prospect small-to-mid-sized businesses for ticket packages such as mini-plans, partial season ticket plans, and corporate group outings.


  • Promote employee engagement programs, ticket vouchers, and business hospitality opportunities.


  • Maintain relationships with local businesses and develop long-term partnerships.



Game Day & Event Responsibilities

  • Assist in game-day group hosting, check-ins, event coordination, and problem resolution.


  • Represent the team at community events, networking functions, and business expos to promote group opportunities.


  • Participate in theme nights, promotional activations, and special initiatives as needed.



Administrative & Team Duties

  • Maintain accurate CRM records for all client interactions, leads, and sales progress.


  • Work collaboratively with ticket operations, marketing, and game presentation to fulfill group experiences.


  • Achieve or exceed monthly and seasonal sales goals established by leadership.


Special Events 


  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all non–game day events held at the ballpark


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from initial inquiry through event completion


  • Develop event timelines, floor plans, staffing plans, and operational run-of-show documents


  • Coordinate with internal departments including operations, grounds crew, security, concessions, and marketing


  • Manage event setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring events meet client expectations and venue standards


  • Oversee vendors such as caterers, decorators, AV providers, rental companies, and entertainers


  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, permitting requirements, and venue policies


  • Assist in creating event proposals, contracts, and post-event reports


  • Monitor event budgets, invoices, and revenue tracking


  • Conduct site tours and assist with event sales efforts when needed


  • Troubleshoot issues on-site and make real-time decisions during events


  • Represent the organization in a professional manner to clients, vendors, and community partners





Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent sales experience.


  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).


  • Self-motivated with a competitive, goal-oriented mindset.


  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season.



Preferred

  • Experience in sports, entertainment, or hospitality sales.


  • Familiarity with CRM systems.


  • Background in cold-calling and relationship-based selling.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods


  • Comfortable walking the ballpark and assisting with event setup


  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs if needed

  • $50,000 plus 5% commission
