Are you looking for a summer internship?  Are you looking for an internship where you’ll actually be doing the work versus just “assisting” with everything?  Look no further!
  
  The Macon Bacon summer internship program is uniquely designed to give college students the real world experience. Each intern becomes the right-hand person for the department head in that particular area.  The goal for all of our interns is when the summer is over, you are ready to actually do the work.  

 
The Bacon summer internship runs with our season which is from the beginning part of May (when your school is out of session) until the beginning of August.  We have a total of 26 home games in 2026 and all of the positions have you working in the office as well.  

 
If you don’t already know, here’s some more info about the Macon Bacon…The first seven seasons of the Macon Bacon have been a smashing success with more than half the games being sold out. The Macon Bacon have become a national sensation and we’re looking for our next superstar.  We are a collegiate summer baseball team and play in the Coastal Plain League.  Our fans are treated with first-class entertainment and continuously have been in the top 5% in attendance in summer college baseball out of more than 300 teams and even had an average attendance of better than 30% of all Minor League Baseball organizations.

 
The Macon Bacon are led by Managing Partner and Team President, Brandon Raphael.  Brandon has more than 25 years of experience in Minor League Baseball, Major League Soccer, College Athletics and Collegiate Summer Baseball.  We have a full-time staff of nine and will bring in about 15 interns for the summer to round out our team.    

  The Internships that we have available are as follows.  Please read these through as you’ll be asked in your application which internships interest you the most:

 
1.      Ticket Sales – Operations/Inside Sales – You will work hand-in-hand with Dalando, our Inside Sales and Operations Executive.  During games, you’ll be helping run the box office and assisting with the fan experience.  In the office, you’ll be learning about the inside sales operation, serving our ticket holders, making outbound calls become knowledgeable about the back-end of the CRM.  
 
2.      Ticket Sales – Group Sales– You’ll be working with our group sales team, headed up by Andrew our Group Sales Manager.  In this position, you’ll be assisting the ticket sales team at the games with group experiences and customer service of the groups coming to the game.  In the office, you will be making calls to groups and learning everything there is to making our group experience the best there is.  
 
3.      Social Media & Graphic Design – Here you will be working with Ansley, our Social Media & Fan Engagement Coordinator.  You’ll be brainstorming, planning and executive social media content to be posted across all platforms.  Creating graphics for social content such as lineups, gameday graphics and promotional content. You’ll also collaborate with the entire marketing and entertainment team so you’ll be best prepared to bring the sizzle to our fans at the ballpark and all over the world!  Graphic design experience is a must here. 
 
4.      Digital Marketing & Graphic Design – While working with the entire marketing and entertainment team, you’ll work closest with Isabelle, our Director of Marketing.  You will be involved with website content, paid social campaigns, creating graphics and creative content for ads, gameday programs and much more.  You’ll understand more about email communication, data analytics and all things that go into the digital side of our organization.  Graphic design experience here is a must as well. 
 
5.      On-Field Host & Entertainment – In this position, working with Isabelle and Ansley, you will be all things entertainment!  Like being the star of the show?  Here you will actually be the star of the show.  You will be the main communicator to our fans during the inning breaks and setting the tone for our crowd.  Working with our marketing and entertainment team, be ready to set the tone for the show that is the Macon Bacon.  You are the face that fans see when they enter, during the game and after.  You will work directly the Sizzle Squad, our entertainment crew.   You’ll help build the script for the games and work with the team on execution during the inning breaks.  Practice, practice and practice the skits and make sure that every fan in the ballpark is smiling and stomping their feet.  A super outgoing personality is what will stand out above the rest in this position!
 
6.      Music & Game Presentation – As a major contributor to the show, you’ll be running music for the games and will connect not just with everyone in the ballpark, but your marketing and entertainment team as well.  But it’s much more than that!  Research, crowd pleasing and being creative are musts here.  Run the music during the games and then building a plan in the office.  This one is for the most creative.  We host 17 theme nights during the season and your job is to help make each one an unforgettable night for our fans.  Building out a plan for theme night supplies, decorations and overall feel of the ballpark on those most special nights.  Having a top notch personality and willing to do whatever it takes to give the fans a great show is a must here! 
 
7.      Photography – Our photography intern is a member of the marketing and entertainment staff for the summer.  Are you interested in capturing the best moments of our fans and the biggest plays of the summer?  This is way more than taking photos of the game, it is all about showcasing what Macon Bacon games are all about.  Please note, we are looking for an intern with their own camera equipment.  Ideally you know Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.  
 
8.      Videography – Our videography intern is also a member of the marketing and entertainment staff.  Working with the entire team on taking videos of our games and fans.  The best moments, captured by you to be built into hype videos and game recaps.  The photo/video interns are separate positions and we ask for you to have your camera equipment with this one too.  Knowledge of splicing and building video content is very helpful here. 
 
9.      Broadcast & Camera Operations – Working with our marketing and entertainment team, you’ll be the right hand for our play-by-play broadcaster. You’ll be directing the cameras, in-game graphics/content and concentrating on our online broadcast for our games.  We’re looking for someone here that wants to provide a great product for our fans watching the broadcast.  You’ll also be involved with the marketing and entertainment team building the best fan engagement in college summer baseball. 
 
10.   Play-by-Play Broadcaster – Working with our marketing and entertainment, you are the voice of the Bacon.  While calling the plays for home games, you’ll also be the main point person for interviewing coaches, players and creating storylines for our fans.  You’ll be a crucial member of our marketing team, so contributing in areas beyond the broadcast will be a major component. 
 
11.   Merchandise & Partnership Activation – The merchandise/partnership activation intern will be working directly with our Merchandise Manager, Jake.  You will be the team store manager for the summer, having oversight of the game day staff along with learning inventory processes, the back-end of the online store and managing the overall merch strategy for games.  In the office, you’ll work with the group on fulfilling online orders and making the store look sizzlin’!  You’ll also be incredibly helpful on the partnership side of the Bacon, working with Jake on activation of promotions for our partners. 
 
12. Food & Beverage/Ballpark Operations – Here, you’ll be working right along with Griffin, our Manager of Food & Beverage/Ballpark Operations. You will work as a team as Food & Beverage/Ballpark Ops together. You will literally be running the show with Johnathan in regard to all things food and beverage & ballpark operations.  The concession stands, bars, and learning more about how food & beverage ties directly into the fan experience.  Not only that, but you will also oversee keeping our ballpark beautiful.  Helping us build relationships with our game day teammates and a culture within our organization that goes unmatched. You will work directly with all other food & beverage and operation interns.  We are hiring three interns here. 

13. Operations Analytics & Staffing – Part of the Food & Beverage/Ballpark Operations team, in this position you’ll be working with Griffin on hiring, processing employee paperwork, assisting with payroll related details, and ensuring our game day teammate culture is as good as it can get.  One of the most important roles within ballpark operations is the people you hire to run the show.  This takes strategic planning and organizational skills to accomplish. You will build a welcoming and caring environment for our gameday teammates and orchestrate a culture where people talk about how much they love working for us in the summer. This role works directly with the ballpark ops and food & beverage interns in ensuring a smooth operation.  
 
14.   Clubhouse Manager – Have a knack for sports operations/equipment?  Here you’ll be working directly with our coaching staff to give the players the best experience possible.  You’ll be responsible for laundry, keeping the clubhouses clean and supporting the coaching staff and players where needed.  If desired, you’ll have an opportunity to work on the field and helping where needed for home games within the dugout and clubhouse.
 
Some items to consider…

We are looking for interns that are able to work the entire summer and commit to all home games and time in the office depending on the internship responsibilities.  We will be playing a total of 26 home games from May 31 to August 2, with a possibility of one week longer if we make the playoffs.  We ask that our interns start as early as possible in May, right after their school is out, but no later than May 17.   

We ask that you provide your own housing and have reliable transportation to and from the ballpark. 

Course credit and/or a stipend is available for all of our internships.  

Our interns are highly sought in the working world upon graduation.  Many of our interns have gone on to be hired by our team and other sports organizations throughout the country.
