Job Summary:
The Director of the Reds Youth Academy is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational performance of the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy. This role oversees facility operations and maintenance, directs the execution of youth baseball and softball programming, assists the execution and completion of the outreach goals of the Reds Community Fund, and serves as a primary community liaison for the Roselawn and Bond Hill neighborhoods. The Director establishes high operational standards, drives organizational coordination, and identifies revenue generating opportunities that support the long-term sustainability of the Academy.
 
Employees are expected to follow all Cincinnati Reds policies and procedures, serve as positive role models, and manage their workload effectively. This includes demonstrating flexibility, prioritizing tasks efficiently, and meeting departmental productivity standards.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Education |
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, sports administration, or a related field

Experience |
3-5 years of experience in sports administration, youth development, facility operations, or related leadership roles.

Skills | 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word is required
  • Baseball or softball experience
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional initiatives and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with budget management, revenue generation, and business development
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Education |
Master’s degree in sports management, business administration, education, or related field

Experience | 
  • 7–10 years of experience in sports administration, youth development, facility operations, or related leadership roles 
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex operations, facilities, or multi‑program environments

Skills |
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Problem solving – ability to think quickly to resolve conflicts or unexpected challenges
  • Adaptability – quickly adjusting to shifting priorities and new tasks
  • Strong relationship building skills and experience working with diverse communities

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Duty | % of Time
Program Strategy & Execution
Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of all youth baseball and softball programs associated with RBI. Assist with RCF Scholars program. Ensure programming aligns with organizational goals for participation, skill development, access, and community impact. Establish systems for program evaluation, data tracking, and continuous improvement. | 25%

Operational Leadership & Facility Management
Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality facility usage. Oversee facility maintenance, capital needs, vendor relationships, and operational compliance. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and performance standards. | 20%

Revenue Generation & Business Development
Identify, evaluate, and secure tournament and rental opportunities and other revenue generating uses of the Academy facility. Develop pricing structures, usage policies, and operational plans that support sustainable revenue growth. Build and maintain relationships with external organizations seeking facility access. | 15%

Culture & Leadership
Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement among staff, coaches, and volunteers. Lead, mentor, and develop Academy staff to ensure high performance and alignment with organizational values. Create and maintain a positive, collaborative, and respectful workplace environment for all staff and vendors. | 15%

Community Engagement & Representation
Serve as the primary community liaison in Roselawn, Bond Hill, Avondale and other surrounding neighborhoods. Establish and grow relationships with residents, schools, community organizations, and local leaders. Represent the Academy and Reds Community Fund at community meetings, events, and partnership discussions. | 10%

Cross Functional Coordination
Collaborate with internal departments—including but not limited to Ballpark Operations, Security, Community Relations, HR, Accounting, IT—to ensure effective execution of Academy initiatives. Maintain high standards for communication, planning, and execution across all Academy events and activities. | 10%

Miscellaneous
Serve as Reds Community Fund Youth Protection Compliance Officer. Serve as primary contact with Major League Baseball Youth Programs, including participation in monthly Academy meetings. Other duties as assigned, such as attending RCF and community events as needed. | 5%
 
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Executive Director, RCF.

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasionally required to sit
  • Use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
  • Light lifting/carrying to assist with event preparation
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however employee may have event day responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • Candidate must be willing to work extended hours and/or nights and weekends as required
