JOB TITLE:               Assistant Director, Wrigley Field Event Operations                         
DEPARTMENT:       Event Operations
REPORTS TO:          Director, Event Operations
FLSA Status:           Exempt

The Assistant Director of Wrigley Field Event Operation will assist in the design and lead the implementation of Chicago Cubs event operations strategy.   This key leader will guide and develop supervisors and associates to deliver “best-in-class” service to all guests of Wrigley Field through flawless execution of day to day operations for all baseball games.  This includes identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and adapting policies, procedures, safety & security measures as necessary.

  • Lead service delivery for Wrigley Field events, primarily baseball games
  • Identify opportunities to advance the overall Operations functions for baseball games and drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of service delivery
  • Evaluate current policies and practices and recommend improvements
  • Adapt policies, procedures and safety and security measures as necessary and lead the execution of all changes to ensure understanding and adoption by all associates
  • Lead implementation of company strategy to deliver “best-in-class” guest security service, providing and implementing recommendations to advance the Cubs approach to service delivery
  • Assist in developing the event operations budget and staffing plan; drive accountability for budget management and effective labor utilization
  • Oversee event command post and event incident tracking systems; review and investigate incident reports and execute follow-up of guest service issues; conduct regular analysis of event data to identify trends, make recommendations and implement changes to enhance the guest experience
  • Lead security and parking operations for baseball games; partner with Safety & Security to implement emergency evacuation and weather-related safety training and exercises.
  • Oversee the selection and delivery of First Aid and EMS services
  • Oversee the selection and delivery of Third Party Security services
  • Collaborate with sponsorship, sales, marketing and other departments to ensure game day partner event needs are satisfied
  • With the support of human resources, lead the selection, training, rewards and recognition, and performance management of event operations personnel

  • 4-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university or college in the field of Business, Engineering, Social Sciences, or Communications
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in venue event management, including both front line exposure and large venue experience
  • 3+ years management experience with proven track record of managing for strong individual and team performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management experience with the ability to coach, mentor and motivate a diverse workforce
  • Experience managing effective rewards and recognition programs
  • Demonstrated experience with Federal and State OSHA regulations compliance, including fire and safety
  • Knowledge of event safety and security best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and seek proactive solutions to problems a with little or no supervision
  • Ability to independently assess and identify potential issues before they arise and follow-through to adapt policies or procedures to minimize risks
  • Demonstrated experience with budget oversight and general accounting/finance knowledge
  • Strong analytical skills; proven ability to analyze data to assess operation and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Experience coaching and developing front-line managers and supervisors
  • Advanced degree
