Pelicans Ballpark is a year-round entertainment venue and home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. The ballpark hosts 66 Pelicans game each year in addition to numerous other events including concerts, baseball/softball games, the Myrtle Beach Marathon, community events and more.

The Pelicans are entering their 27th season in Myrtle Beach. The team played its first season in 1999 and recently signed a new 30-year lease with the City of Myrtle Beach, securing their future in Pelicans Ballpark for decades to come.

Position Description
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring a seasonal position to assist in the fan engagement department. This person will report directly to the Assistant General Manager, Fan Engagement, to help enhance the coverage and engagement of the Pelicans’ social media accounts.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the supporting of the overall team brand awareness via social media.
- Assist in creating, cataloging, scheduling, and publishing content to team social accounts.
- Interact with fans and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments.
- Track and deliver social media metrics for specific campaigns (both organic and sponsor).
- Provide entertaining live coverage of games via the team’s social media platforms.
- Assist with content capture at both games and community events to help maximize the exposure of team initiatives.
- Communicate daily about content opportunities and trends that the club may leverage, relevant to the team’s social media strategy.
- Maintain brand voice across different social media channels.
- Assist in creating creative marketing assets for various digital channels including but not limited to: website, social accounts, email newsletter, and video board.
- Assist other departments as necessary, most notably marketing and promotions.
- Perform as mascots if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
By the end of the season, you will:
- Understand the various interworking of departments that comprise a front office of a sports team; while learning how the Pelicans’ culture leads to success on and off the field.
- Gain basic level understanding of social media preferred practices as it relates to the Pelicans’ brand.
- Pitch, develop, and produce content pieces to be published to the Pelicans’ account(s).
- Add additional elements to your professional portfolio.
- Have gained valuable networking opportunities.
- Receive potential job placement assistance based on performance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to start in mid-January on a full-time basis.
- Interns are preferably a recent college graduate, or college senior status/employee eligible, meaning able to accept a full-time job upon completion of the internship.

- Prior experience working in Minor League Baseball (or a similar position) is preferred.

- Strong understanding of social media platforms. (Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube)
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Collection, including but not limited to: Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premier.
- Photography experience a plus.
- Exceptional time management and organization skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines; a self-starter that can take initiative on new ideas and projects.
- Must be highly collaborative in the ideation/development/execution process.
- A strong desire to advance their career in the sports or social media field.
- Be able to perform physically demanding aspects of the job.
- Ability to dedicate 40-100 hours per week, including all home games and ballpark events.
Duration/Compensation
- This is a seasonal position. Start date is mid-January and will conclude in September.
- Monthly stipend.
