Pelicans Ballpark is a year-round entertainment venue and home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. The ballpark hosts 66 Pelicans game each year in addition to numerous other events including concerts, baseball/softball games, the Myrtle Beach Marathon, community events and more.

The Pelicans are entering their 27th season in Myrtle Beach. The team played its first season in 1999 and recently signed a new 30-year lease with the City of Myrtle Beach, securing their future in Pelicans Ballpark for decades to come.

Position Description
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring a seasonal position to assist in the fan engagement department. This person will report directly to the Assistant General Manager, Fan Engagement, to help enhance the fan experience and entertainment at the ballpark.
Responsibilities
· Assist in the coordinating and execution of pre-game, in-game, and post-game activities and entertainment.
· Prepare and execute promotional game day events, including: jersey auctions, mystery ball raffles, giveaways, and special appearances.
· Assist in interviewing and managing a game day promotion staff.
· Preparing the ballpark for games and events.
· Coordinate and attend mascot appearances both at the ballpark and in the community.
· Schedule and execute ballpark tours.
· Work events that are held at the ballpark. This will include events on nights and weekends on non-game days.
· Assist with the execution of MLB initiatives and league-wide sponsorship activations.
· Assist with bat dog responsibilities.
· Perform as mascot(s) when necessary.
· Other duties as assigned.
By the end of the season, you will:
- Understand the various interworking of departments that comprise a front office of a sports team; while learning how the Pelicans’ culture leads to success on and off the field.
- Understand ‘The Show’ philosophy that makes Pelicans Ballpark among the top fan experiences in Minor League Baseball.
- Pitch, develop, and execute a full promotional theme night that will be part of the Pelicans’ promotional calendar.
- Add additional elements to your professional portfolio.
- Have gained valuable networking opportunities.
- Have gained experience in managing both people and events.
- Receive potential job placement assistance based on performance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to meet a start date in mid-January.
- Interns are preferably a recent college graduate, or college senior status/employee eligible, meaning able to accept a full-time job upon completion of the internship.

- Prior experience working in Minor League Baseball (or a similar position) is preferred.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Master Collection a plus.
- Exceptional time management organization skills.
- Exceptional professionalism skills; comfortability speaking and performing in front of both small and large crowds.
- Ability to meet deadlines; a self-starter that can take initiative on new ideas and projects.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
- Must be highly collaborative in the ideation/development/execution process.
- A strong desire to advance their career in the sports, entertainment, or tourism field.
- Ability to perform physically demanding aspects of the job.
- Willingness to dedicate 40-100 hours per week, including all home games and ballpark events.
Duration/Compensation
· This is a seasonal position. Start date is mid-January and will conclude in September.
· Monthly stipend.
