About Pelicans Ballpark

Pelicans Ballpark is a year-round entertainment venue and home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. The ballpark hosts 66 Pelicans game each year in addition to numerous other events including concerts, baseball/softball games, the Myrtle Beach Marathon, community events and more.

The Pelicans are entering their 27th season in Myrtle Beach.  The team played its first season in 1999 and recently signed a new 30-year lease with the City of Myrtle Beach, securing their future in Pelicans Ballpark for decades to come.

JOB DUTIES:

Before Gates Open

  • Attend the game day production meeting two hours before first pitch.
  • Set up any decorations, props, and in-game activities prior to gates opening.
  • Other duties as assigned.

After Gates Open
  • Acknowledge fans at gates and greet them with a smile.
  • Participate in pre-game entertainment.
  • Assist with giveaway distribution (if applicable).
  • Other duties as assigned.

During the Game
  • Assist with the execution of in-game activities and promotional nights. 
    • This includes but is not limited to: dancing, dressing up, skits, t-shirt tosses, mascot and character handling, mascot and character performing, singing, fan assistance. 
  • Participate in choreographed dances or other skits to entertain fans in your section or in other areas of the ballpark.
  • Assist with leading crowd in cheers during promotions.
  • Must be comfortable performing in front of large crowds and work well with other team members to provide a great fan experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Candidates for this position must be comfortable enough to perform in front of large crowds and be able to work well in a team to execute provide tasks. The candidate must have the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays (should be able to work at least 80% of Pelicans Home Games). College students or individuals looking gain experience in the sports industry are strongly encouraged to apply, although other applicants will NOT be excluded. This role is very suitable for a major that includes marketing, business, recreations/tourism and/or sports management. The ability to start by April or is preferred, however not required. This position is a paid, part-time role that works both home games and select non-game day events.
