Pelicans Ballpark is a year-round entertainment venue and home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. The ballpark hosts 66 Pelicans game each year in addition to numerous other events including concerts, baseball/softball games, the Myrtle Beach Marathon, community events and more.

Position Description
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring an Event Manager for Pelicans Ballpark. This is a full-time position which oversees the execution of all events within Pelicans Ballpark and the brand-new Performance Center (set to open April 2026). This position will report directly to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans leadership.
This role will help usher in a new era of event operations for the venue. During the 2025-2026 off-season, the ballpark will undergo significant renovations with multiple brand-new venue enhancing elements including upgraded video and sound systems. The brand-new Performance Center is the largest indoor space in our ballpark’s history. The 9,000+ square foot space will provide an opening for countless types of events and activations that have not been possible at Pelicans Ballpark before. This is an exciting opportunity to be on the forefront of these renovations which will forever change the venue experience and capabilities as it relates to events beyond Pelicans Baseball.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Pelicans staff on event bookings.
- Seek out and contract new events.
- Assume responsibility for select returning events.
- Liaise with the Performance Center Manager as needed.
- Coordinate with other departments as needed – including but limited to Food & Beverage, Operations, and Sales.
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the department.
- Hire, train, manage, and evaluate the entire production staff.
- Assist with related marketing efforts as needed – this could include graphic design work, attending community events, etc.
- Manager the capture and archiving event related photos.
- Supervise event staff.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Candidates must be willing to dedicate 40-100 hours per week, including all events and select Pelicans Baseball games.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 2-3 years in event planning and/or event management
- A strong interest in the sports industry
- Must be well organized and have the ability to work with others
- Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, and Light Room a plus.
- An understanding of the specifications and layouts of various social media platform, i.e. Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok
- A working knowledge and understanding of audio/visual equipment
- Candidates should be able to the perform physically demanding aspects of the job
