Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. Position Description
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring a Director of Video Production. This is a full-time position which oversees the execution and maintenance of the audio/visual elements at Pelicans Ballpark as well as video elements for use on the related social media channels, marketing outlets and more. This person works in conjunction with and reports directly to the Assistant GM, Fan Engagement.
As a part of overseeing the audio/visual elements with Pelicans Ballpark, this role will help usher in a new era of entertainment for the venue and team. During the 2025-2026 off-season, the ballpark will undergo significant renovations with multiple brand-new fan engagement elements including a 2,100+ square foot video board in right field, the addition of three outfield LED boards, and an upgraded sound system. This is an exciting opportunity to be on the forefront of these renovations which will forever change the ballpark experience for fans, clients and more.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the execution of the ballpark’s game day show from the control room, under the direction of the Assistant GM, Fan Engagement who oversees all entertainment.
- Write PA scripts for game-day elements and assemble the nightly script in ShoFlo (the Pelicans game day script program) according to the game day plan as laid out by the Director of Fan Engagement.
- Coordinate with Sponsorship Activation Manager to create sponsorship elements to be used both in-ballpark and online. Elements will include but are not limited to video board graphics, social videos, and PA scripts.
- Supervise creation of all graphical and video elements that are viewed on the ballpark’s video boards and closed-circuit television systems.
- Oversee the filming and editing of all internally produced videos to include commercials, in-game elements, player profiles, social media videos, and more.
- Oversee the TV broadcast and/streaming of all home games – The Pelicans broadcast all 66 home games on MiLB.TV and Bally Live. Additionally, the team also airs approximately 20 additional games each season on the Marquee Sports Network (the RSN for the Chicago Cubs) and the Palmetto Sports & Entertainment Network collectively.
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the department.
- Hire, train, manage, and evaluate the entire production staff.
- Additional graphic design work to include but not limited to advertising elements, ticket stock and more.
- Manage the archiving of all gameday footage and player videos.
- Coordinate interviews and player filming sessions to used throughout the game day show as well as on social media and any other outlet that may become available.
- Supervise seasonal assistants and train them on all aspects of the position including but not limited to graphic design, graphic animation, filming, editing, and technical directing a TV broadcast.
- Attend all staff meetings including but not limited to homestand meetings, game day meetings, and production meetings.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Work other events beyond Pelicans Baseball as needed.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 2-3 years in the video department of a sports team
- A strong interest in the sports industry and an above average understanding of baseball
- A working knowledge and understanding of audio/visual equipment and the ability to troubleshoot minor technical difficulties
- An understanding of the specifications and layouts of various social media platform, i.e. Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok
- Must be well organized and have the ability to work with others
- Creativity for commercial/video production
- A mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite including but not limited to Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Ability to technically direct a game (Pelicans use a Newtek Tricaster 2 Elite)
- Familiarity with the Motion Rocket system a plus
- Must be well versed in pop culture and current trends
- Candidates should be able to the perform physically demanding aspects of the job
- Candidates must be willing to dedicate 40-100 hours per week, including all home games and the majority of additional ballpark events.
- Candidates must be able to start no later than November 1, 2025.
