About Pelicans Ballpark
Pelicans Ballpark is a year-round entertainment venue and home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Pelicans Ballpark is in Myrtle Beach, SC less than a mile from the beach. The ballpark hosts 66 Pelicans game each year in addition to numerous other events including concerts, baseball/softball games, the Myrtle Beach Marathon, community events and more.  Moving into the 2026 year the ballpark is going to see $20 million dollars in renovations to include a new scoreboard, sound system, LED outfield boards, stadium seats, and 28,000 sq. ft. player performance area ushering in a new era at Pelicans Ballpark!

The Pelicans are entering their 27th season in Myrtle Beach.  The team played its first season in 1999 and recently signed a new 30-year lease with the City of Myrtle Beach, securing their future in Pelicans Ballpark for decades to come.

SUMMARY:
The Director of Sponsorship Sales will focus on developing and securing new business to hit annual partnership sales goals.  This position will spend time actively building relationships within the business community to form new relationships and build long term partnerships.      

 RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Create new sales leads through effective communication, in-person appointments, and creative lead development to close new sponsorships. 
  • Identify industries of opportunity within local, regional, and national markets.
  • Build proposals that meet the needs of each individual client while effectively meeting their goals.
  • Facilitate fulfillment of all elements of sponsorship contracts.
  • Continuously follow-up with all potential leads to close accounts, overcome objections, and further build relationships.  Provide sponsor accounts with proof of performance reports on a monthly basis throughout the season (April – September). 
  • Ensure that all requested proof of performance metrics are being recorded, working collaboratively with the partnership services coordinator to gather all necessary information.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.   

Characteristics/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 4-6 years of experience in sports sales
  • 2-3 years of partnership sales experience
  • Proven ability to close long term partnerships and hit revenue goals
  • Strong sales acumen including but not limited to prospecting, appointment setting, relationship building, proposal building, negotiating, and closing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary
