About the Role
The Stockton Ports Hype Squad is a brand-new, high-energy team dedicated to keeping the vibes high and the ballpark buzzing all game long. From dancing on dugouts to leading cheers, hyping sections, interacting with fans, and helping run in-game activations, this squad is all about bringing the fun, boosting atmosphere, and creating unforgettable moments for fans of all ages.
If you love sports, love people, and aren’t afraid to be loud, silly, dancing, cheering, or fully committing to the bit, this is your team.
Tryout Requirement
All applicants must be available to attend one in-person Hype Squad audition/tryout session.
Dates and times will be announced to selected applicants after initial screening.
What You’ll Do
Bring the Hype
· Keep energy high throughout the ballpark—before the gates open until the final out.
· Lead cheers, chants, fan prompts, and fun hype moments on the dugouts and concourse.
· Dance, interact, create crowd moments, and encourage fan participation.
· Be a visible, energetic presence in the stands and on the field during key moments.
Fan Engagement
· Greet fans with enthusiasm at gates, in sections, and during activations.
· Pose for photos, hand out high-fives, and make special moments for kids and families.
· Identify fans to participate in fun in-game features and escort them safely to the field.
In-Game Activations Support
· Assist with t-shirt tosses, prize giveaways, race/contest setup, and prop movement.
· Help run timed promotions smoothly and safely.
· Support mascot handlers to ensure Splash has safe and smooth interactions.
Theme Nights & Ballpark Entertainment
· Participate in themed costumes, skits, or simple choreographed moments.
· Help build the environment for theme nights (Princess Night, Racecar Night, etc.).
· Keep the ballpark atmosphere aligned with the night’s vibe and energy.
Represent the Ports
· Serve as a friendly, approachable ambassador for the team at games.
· Maintain positive professionalism and embody the Ports’ fan-first values.
What We’re Looking For
· High energy, outgoing, unafraid to be silly or spirited in front of crowds.
· Strong communication and fan-interaction skills.
· Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during the season.
· Team-oriented, coachable, and able to take cues during fast-paced live events.
· Comfortable dancing, cheering, and moving around a lot.
· Experience with cheer, dance, theater, performance, or entertainment is a plus—but NOT required.
· Customer service or fan-engagement experience also a plus.

Physical Requirements
· Able to stand/walk for long periods.
· Comfortable with stairs, ramps, and frequent movement around the ballpark.
· Able to work in outdoor weather conditions.
· Able to lift up to 20 lbs (props, giveaway boxes, etc.).
· Must be comfortable moving, dancing, and performing energetic activities.
Availability
Must be available for the majority of Stockton Ports home games.

Part-time, hourly
