Overview
The Stockton Ports Professional Baseball Team is seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial Outside Sales Contractor to generate new corporate sponsorship and season ticket revenue. This is a 1099 independent contractor, commission-only opportunity ideal for a self-starter who excels at relationship-driven sales.

Classification Notice (California Independent Contractor)
This role is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor in accordance with California law. The contractor:
- Maintains full discretion and control over how, when, and where sales services are performed
- Operates an independently established trade, occupation, or business providing sales services
- Is not required to work set hours or attend mandatory meetings
- Is responsible for all business expenses, licenses, permits, and applicable taxes
- Is not eligible for employee benefits of any kind
This engagement is intended to comply with California’s ABC Test for independent contractor classification.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, pitch, and close new corporate sponsorship agreements
- Sell season ticket plans, including full-season, partial-season, and group-related products
- Identify and develop new business leads through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and community engagement
- Present Stockton Ports sales offerings using approved pricing, inventory, and marketing materials
- Negotiate agreements within established guidelines
- Coordinate with the Stockton Ports front office for contract processing and fulfillment
- Accurately track sales activity and closed revenue
- Represent the Stockton Ports brand professionally at all times
Compensation
- Commission-only compensation structure
- Contractor is paid solely on revenue they personally originate, close, and that is collected
- Commission rates, eligible products, and payment schedule will be defined in a separate Independent Contractor Agreement
- No base salary, draw, reimbursements, or guaranteed earnings
Work Environment & Flexibility
- Work remotely and independently
- Set your own schedule and sales methods
- No required minimum hours
- Freedom to pursue other business opportunities, provided no conflict of interest exists
Qualifications
- Sales, sponsorship, or business development experience preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, and closing skills
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Comfortable operating in a commission-only sales role
- Sports, entertainment, or local market experience is a plus
- Ability to operate as an independent contractor (sole proprietor, LLC, etc.)
Tools & Support
- Stockton Ports will provide approved sales materials, inventory availability, and pricing
- Contractor provides their own equipment, technology, and workspace
Term & Termination
This engagement is ongoing and may be terminated by either party pursuant to the terms outlined in the Independent Contractor Agreement.
