The Intern, Baseball Systems and Analytics will support the Technology and Analytics Department, working across USA Baseball’s Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP), development programs, and national teams. This position will assist with organizing and analyzing athlete data collected through advanced technologies to support player identification, development, and performance initiatives.
The USA Baseball National Training Complex (NTC) in Cary, North Carolina, is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including the TrackMan V3 radar, AWRE Cameras and integrated data collection systems. The Baseball Systems and Analytics Intern will work with both large and small datasets to verify dataset accuracy, build player reports, identify performance trends, assist with player evaluation and selection, and develop tools that enhance USA Baseball’s understanding and application of athlete performance data. The Baseball Systems and Analytics Intern will also help to oversee and manage the function of the NTC’s TrackMan and AWRE systems during events, and aid in the supervision of the TrackMan and AWRE Operators assigned to each field. Additionally, this position may be asked to support the operations of the PDP, such as assisting with data collection or aiding in the Player Reporting process.
Through this single application, USA Baseball will hire two (2) Interns, Baseball Systems & Analytics.
Position Details:
- Full-time hours (40+ hours/week)
- Duration: May (NO later than June 1) – August 2026 (flexible start and end dates)
- On-site work required (locations vary by assignment)
- Domestic travel involved in this position (all travel costs accrued during internship are covered by USA Baseball)
In this Role:
As an Intern, Baseball Systems and Analytics, you will gain hands-on experience in sports technology, data management, and performance analysis while supporting USA Baseball’s Technology and Analytics Department. You may:
- Aggregate and analyze athlete performance data to support player evaluation and development efforts.
- Query databases, clean datasets, and generate insights to assist in athlete identification and program improvement.
- Develop dashboards and tools to monitor data quality and identify areas for enhancement.
- Operate and manage advanced baseball technology systems, including TrackMan and AWRE, to support data collection, analysis, and player evaluation.
- Coordinate and manage the scheduling of TrackMan and AWRE operators for events at the NTC.
- Communicate with athletes, families, and stakeholders to coordinate logistics and share reports.
- Attend PDP and USA Baseball events to oversee technology setup, manage data collection, and contribute to player development initiatives.
- Suggest and implement improvements to analytics workflows, reporting systems, and data visualization tools.
Qualifications:

- You are currently pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field.
- You are proficient in coding languages such as R or Python, with experience building dashboards or visualizations in R Shiny, R Markdown, or similar tools.
- You have prior experience with TrackMan, or similar baseball tracking technologies.
- You have a strong interest in sports analytics, player development, and performance technology, paired with a passion for baseball.
- You demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to clean, manage, and interpret complex data sets.
- You possess advanced quantitative analysis and computing skills, with attention to accuracy and consistency.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
- You exhibit a positive attitude and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- You can relocate to the Raleigh/Durham/Cary, NC area for the duration of the internship.
- You can successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
Preferred:
- You have prior experience with AWRE, or similar video capture technologies.
- You have experience supporting a coaching staff, team, or analytics department within a baseball or sports environment.
- You are skilled in processing, editing, and organizing video or visual data for analysis and reporting.
- You can effectively utilize emerging technologies in baseball to enhance evaluation and player development initiatives.
