The Merchandise Intern position revolves around the retail operations of Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium’s Official Team Store during the Spring Training season for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals. This department covers all retail operations throughout the stadium.
This internship provides a unique and valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in aprofessionalsports retail operation. Interns will work closely with full-time staff and leadership to see how a high-volume retail environment is managed during Spring Training. Interns will also gain exposure to logistics, sales, customer service, inventory control, visual merchandising, and staff supervision — acting as a steppingstone for those pursuing a career in sports business, retail operations, or event management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of retail operations at the stadium including:
- Maintenance of inventory organization and systems.
- Receiving – verifying inventory quantities, labeling merchandise, allocating appropriate storage space in accordance with inventory systems
- Executing inventory transfers from warehouse to store locations
- Operating a cash register to complete Point of Sale transactions
- Supervision of seasonal/part time game day and kiosk staff
- Maintaining visual merchandising standards
- Restocking team store prior to each game
- Maintain consistent communication between all managers, warehouse staff, team store staff, and 3 kiosk locations
- Assist with daily sales reporting for each store location
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled or recent college graduate with a degree in Merchandising, Marketing, or other related fields.
- Customer service – both internal and external
- Detail oriented with keen organizational skills.
- Must be willing to work long hours and weekends in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must have availability to work all Marlins and Cardinals Spring Training games.
- Able to lift at least 50lbs, stand for long periods of time, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull and lift items as necessary
- Knowledge of Retail Pro preferred but not required
Salary: Florida Minimum Wage
