The Staten Island FerryHawks are a professional baseball team playing in the Atlantic League (an independent league partnered with Major League Baseball).  The team is owned by Staten Island Entertainment, led by Chairman John Catsimatidis and President Eric Shuffler with investors that include the New York Yankees, Pete Davidson, and Colin Jost.  The team was established in 2022.

The Game Day Internship Program is a for-credit-only program - designed for college students to explore careers in the sports industry through hands-on experience working with a professional baseball team alongside front-office staff members focused mainly on game days and events.  

Timeline:

The Game Day Internship Program will begin in June and will conclude in August. Interns are expected to be present for all Ferryhawks games they are scheduled for. Although interns may not be scheduled to work 100% of the games, we are looking for qualified candidates who have open availability. 

Hours: 

Game day report time is approximately 2 hours before first pitch (4:30 PM for a standard 6:30 PM game). GDI's will be dismissed shortly after the game ends or when all responsibilities are finished.

Responsibilities:
·        Assist in general game day setup including giveaways, programs, and sponsor tables.
·        Handle customer service inquiries.
·        Assist in various ticket office duties including but not limited to answering phones and working a ticket window.
·        Assist promo crew with on-field entertainment and escorting mascots. 
·        Assist in the implementation of new and creative posts for social media. 
·        Concierge for clients and unique ballpark experiences (such as tours, private rooms, etc.) 
·        Assist with the setup and breakdown of other stadium events.
·        Assist with the planning and implementation of marketing and promotional elements related to the club’s partnership agreements to ensure complete client satisfaction.
·        Opportunity to volunteer for special projects and office hours as desired.
·        Prepare hospitality areas including suite level, and concourse picnic areas with appropriate signage, materials, and equipment.
·        Supervise Fun Zone areas in the stadium – monitoring guests, game day staff, facilities, and services.
·        Serve as a resource to game day staff members by communicating any pertinent game day information.
·        Usher throughout the ballpark and assist fans with questions in the seating bowl.
·        Opportunity to volunteer for special events. 
·        Handle other duties as assigned.

Please note: Due to the responsibilities and hours required of this position, only local candidates will be considered.

Qualifications: 
·        Must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student.
·        Must be eligible to receive college credit.
·        Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities and deadlines. 
·        Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. 
·        Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information. 
·        Display strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships. 
·        Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
