Southern Maryland Blue Crabs – Sales Director
Compensation: $50,000 base + commission
Location: On-site preferred (Waldorf, MD)
Reports to: CEO & COO; works closely with General Manager and Business Manager
Function: Dual leadership of corporate partnerships and ticket sales
About the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs:
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are an American professional baseball team based in Waldorf, Maryland. They are members of the South Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent "partner league" of Major League Baseball. Under new ownership, that is looking to implement modern strategies to push the organization to a level it has not seen and is in the process of implementing new strategies to move the team forward.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead all sponsorship and ticketing sales efforts (from outreach to closing and renewals)
- Build and manage CRM system to track pipeline, tasks, and reporting
- Manage sponsor deliverables and activations (pre-game, in-game, post-game)
- Collaborate with front office leadership to align on strategy and financial goals
- Support community presence and offsite promotional events
- Eventually oversee additional sales reps or interns as we scale
- Ensure all collection on sales orders
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience in sports sponsorship or ticketing sales
- Proven revenue generation with a track record of closing and renewing accounts
- CRM setup and management experience is mandatory
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Comfortable working flexible hours including nights and weekends during the season
- Strong tech proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, CRM, and proposal tools)
Preferred:
- Experience with ticketing platforms (e.g., Glitnir, TicketReturn)
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools (email platforms, Slack, basic design tools)
- Independent league, minor league, or collegiate sports background
