OVERVIEW
The Lexington Legends are a proud member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and Central Kentucky’s longest-running professional sports team. The Legends continue to build on a tradition of community impact, family-friendly entertainment, and excellence both on and off the field.

Position Overview:
The Special Events Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the planning and execution of the Lexington Legends’ Festival of Lights. This internship is designed for college credit and runs from October through January. The intern will assist with event logistics, guest services, and administrative tasks, providing valuable exposure to large-scale event operations. Availability during holidays and weekends is required. This position will report to the Director of Special Events & Promotions

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing Festival of Lights events and related activities.
  • Support administrative tasks including preparing event materials, updating documentation, and tracking event logistics.
  • Assist with on-site event operations, including setup, breakdown, and ensuring events run smoothly according to plan.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and third-party vendors to support festival operations, vendor coordination, and equipment needs.
  • Provide exceptional guest service by greeting attendees, answering questions, and enhancing the overall festival experience.
  • Support holiday and weekend operations as required.
  • Participate in post-event evaluations by gathering feedback and helping identify improvements for future events.

Qualifications:
  • Current college student seeking course credit in event management, hospitality, sports management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic about creating a positive guest experience.
  • Passion for live events, community engagement, and holiday programming.
