Company Overview:
The Flying Boxcars play at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, Maryland. The locally owned, state-of-the-art facility was named the 2024 and 2025 ‘Ballpark of the Year’ in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, celebrating its 27th anniversary this year. The ownership of Downtown Baseball LLC is dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Hagerstown and providing the community a place to live, work and play. The organization is looking for dedicated and hard-working individuals to join the Flying Boxcars team and be part of an amazing process in creating memories for all of Hagerstown and the surrounding communities.

 Compensation: 
$1,200.00 stipend per month. The position will have a start date in April 2026 and last until the end of September 2026. The start date is flexible depending on the candidate’s availability.

Requirements:
Completing or have completed a four–year college degree strongly preferred (Sport Management, Marketing, Business, Communications or another related field). Ability to maintain flexible hours, including but not limited to, normal business hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Must provide own transportation. Ability to stand for long periods of time, be able to lift up to 25lbs and be outdoors during the Spring and Summer months.
Qualifications:

·        Self-motivated, polite, respectful and hard working

·        Current Driver’s License; successful completion of a background check

·        Responsible individual with sound judgement

·        Completing or have completed a four–year college degree strongly preferred (Sport Management, Marketing, Business, Communications or another related field.

·        Team Player that must work well in team setting and individually

·        Ability to handle a fast-paced environment

·        This position requires a candidate to have administrative skills, such as using Excel and Microsoft Office Products

·        Candidate must be able to work long hours including weekends in the height of the season

·        Candidate must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, bend, lift, push, pull, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time 

·        Candidate must be able to handle weather related elements such as rain and heat

Merchandise/Ticketing
·        Assist the Merchandise and Ticket Director in supervision of the entire retail and ticketing operations including policies and procedures, inventory and accounting for on-site, off-site, non-game day and internet sales

·        Responsible for receiving inventory (including physical count) and disbursing inventory to brick-and-mortar locations and on-line sales via inventory system

·        Stocks and sets up all merchandise retail location prior to each game or event

·        Responsible for becoming an expert with the Team’s P.O.S. and inventory system

·        Performs end of month physical count of all inventories including storage

·        Tracks via the P.O.S. system all inventory sold at a discount with coding for the purpose of the discount

·        Tracks all inventory comped, who requested the comp merchandise and the purpose for which the merchandise will be used (i.e. community relations, business development, etc.)

·        Tracks all inventory sold as part of ticket packages, birthday parties, family day, etc.

·        Utilize Glitnir ticket software to sell tickets for individuals, ticket packages, and group outings 

·        Answer office phone throughout the day, assisting with answering questions and taking phone orders 

·        Provide operations support to the Ticket Operations, Group Sales and Corporate Partnerships departments 

·        Provide support to game day ticketing staff  

Assist in game day operations including fan support and walk-up ticket sales
