Position Overview: Financial Analyst II plays a key role in supporting the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions across a dynamic portfolio of real estate assets and professional baseball operations. This position is responsible for delivering actionable insights that drive strategic decision making, optimize asset performance, and enhance overall financial outcomes. Working cross functionally with property management, development, and team operations, the analyst will evaluate financial performance across revenue streams including ticketing, sponsorships, concessions, mixed-use developments, and ancillary real estate ventures. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a high visibility environment. This individual will contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, variance analysis, investment modeling, and long-term planning initiatives, while also helping to improve reporting tools and financial processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend financial rigor with the energy of live sports and large-scale real estate development, providing exposure to complex assets and high impact business decisions.
This position operates within a matrix reporting structure, with dual accountability to:
- Primary Manager: Finance Manager, Braves Development Company
- Secondary Manager: Senior Financial Analyst, Baseball
The Primary Manager oversees functional direction, performance management, career development and day-to-day business needs related to the Braves Development Company, while the Secondary Manager provides day-to-day business alignment, priorities, and operational guidance related to the Braves Baseball function.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Monthly Financial Analysis and Decision Support
- Compare monthly results to forecast, budget and prior year same period and provide specific business drivers for variances in reporting to business stakeholders.
- Analyze and prepare monthly forecast submission.
- Review and model contracts to ensure the financial impact of payment terms, timing, and other contractual details are forecasted and budgeted appropriately to reflect revenue recognition terms.
- Analyze, forecast, and track headcount activity, capital expenditures, and operating expenditures.
- Communicate and advise Leadership on the key metrics, drivers, and risks & opportunities.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages.
- Partner with business leaders by providing value added financial analysis as needed.
Forecasting, Budgeting and Strategic Planning
- Partner with business to develop, validate, and submit monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and 5-year Strategic Plans.
- Prepare presentations for forecasts, budget and strategic plan reviews with Management.
Perform Special Projects as Assigned
- As needed, work with Business and Finance leadership to develop real estate proformas / models
- Develop reporting that improve Leadership's ability to achieve financial targets and improve visibility to business profitability.
- Participate in process improvement and productivity projects to drive continuous improvement in the finance functional area through documentation, cross-training and automation.
- Other Ad Hoc requests from the business or finance leaders.
The ideal candidate is a motivated finance professional with a strong analytical foundation, solid business acumen, and the ability to support decision‑making in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Will possess:
- 3-5 years of financial analysis experience (corporate finance, FP&A, accounting, or similar)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA a plus
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Prior experience in a matrixed or cross-functional environment preferred
- Industry experience (sports, entertainment, real estate, or development) a plus but not required
- Experience with financial reporting systems (e.g., ERP, planning tools, dashboards); Workday, Adaptive, and/or Yardi is a plus
- Good knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into clear insights
- Strong proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
- PowerPoint or presentation skills to clearly communicate financial results to leadership
- Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear, concise, and practical manner
- Strong collaboration skills with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Comfortable balancing competing priorities and supporting multiple stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines
- Sound judgment and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues
- Adaptable and comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment
